𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒙𝒄𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒖𝒎 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒑𝒂𝒍𝒑𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆. The roaring cheers of the crowd echoed through the massive arena, and banners and flags waved in a sea of color. People were buzzing with anticipation for the grand event: the UA High Sports Festival. Students from all departments had gathered to showcase their skills, and every eye was trained on the entrance gates where the participants would soon emerge.

Among the sea of competitors was Jules Antonia Stark, dressed in her UA gym uniform, her signature red and gold accents adding a slight flair to the otherwise simple outfit. She stood off to the side, bouncing lightly on her heels to keep herself focused. The energy from the spectators was infectious, and even she couldn't deny the thrill of the competition.

But she wasn't alone—not really.

"Are you nervous?" The voice of the Phoenix echoed in her mind, its tone mocking yet faintly curious. "I didn't think someone with your abilities would be this jumpy over a bunch of kids playing hero."

"Not nervous," Jules muttered under her breath, keeping her smile in place as she nodded to a fellow student who passed by. "Just... pumped up. Besides, it's not just about the competition. It's about showing everyone what I'm capable of."

"If only they knew." The Phoenix's voice was smooth, almost a purr. "All this fuss over a sports festival. You could end this entire event with a flick of your fingers if you wanted."

"Yeah, but that's not really the goal here, is it?" Jules sighed, ignoring the amused laughter that resonated through her mind. It wasn't like she could tell the Phoenix to shut up—it wasn't as if it would listen, anyway. So she had learned to deal with it, tuning out its unhelpful commentary whenever it started to get annoying.

But right now, there was something even more annoying than the Phoenix's constant presence in her mind.

"Where is he?" Jules muttered, glancing at her watch for what felt like the millionth time. Pietro was supposed to have been here over half an hour ago. Knowing him, he'd probably gotten distracted by some shiny new piece of technology or found something "more exciting" to occupy his time.

Her eyes scanned the entrance, looking for that familiar shock of silver hair, but there was no sign of her best friend. A small sigh escaped her lips, and she crossed her arms, a look of exasperation creeping onto her face.

"You're going to be late again, Pietro," she murmured, tapping her foot impatiently. "One of these days, I swear I'm going to—"

Before she could finish her thought, there was a loud crash, followed by a flash of silver and blue zipping through the gates at breakneck speed. Students nearby let out startled yelps as they were nearly knocked over by the blur of motion that came skidding to a halt right in front of Jules, her hair flying back a little as she crossed her arms over her chest.
