She shuddered in fright whenever she felt
His hand pleasantly stroking her hair
Round glistening drops slid down her eyes
And her shattered heart in silence would repair

When he would gently place his grip on her arm
In an act of corcern or love (as is said)
She would whince in pain as his hand
Fitted right into the marks that were made

The dents in the walls proved it all
So did the bumps on the back of her head
The bits of skin on his belt
Spoke if the atrocities that at night spread

The four walls did see the unseen
The nightlamps knew the unknown
The mirror knew the darkest of bruises
Thought the diary knew her heart alone

The family needed its respect to stand
So they silenced her by force and might
She spoke of the montrosities inflicted on her
But the people refused to believe her plight

Tired aghast she resorted to the knife
To free herself from the nightmare of the dawn
Blood flowed down her throat in drippy lines
And the night of her life shifted to morn
