You Are the Reason – Calum Scott & Leona Lewis 💍💫
"I'd climb every mountain, and swim every ocean, just to be with you..."
----
It had been a long day at Arymeline, one of those days where everything felt exhausting. Back-to-back meetings, last-minute design changes, and an unreasonable amount of emails had drained every ounce of energy from my body. By the time I left the office, my head was pounding, my feet ached, and all I wanted was to crawl into bed and disappear into my blankets.
So when I stepped outside, the last thing I expected was to see him.
Patrick.
Leaning casually against his car, hands tucked into his pockets, looking like he belonged on the cover of some romance novel.
But what got me the most wasn't how good he looked.
It was the softness in his eyes when he saw me.
Like I was the only thing he had been waiting for all day.
"Patrick?" I blinked, confused. "What are you doing here?"
He smiled. "You looked tired today. So I figured I'd pick you up and take you somewhere to relax."
I stared at him. "You... what?"
"I noticed you barely ate lunch, you were rubbing your temples all afternoon, and I know how you get when you're overworked," he said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "So I thought—why not give my girl a break?"
My girl.
My heart did a full gymnastics routine at those two simple words.
"Patrick, you didn't have to do this," I said, feeling overwhelmed in the best way possible.
He stepped closer, tilting his head slightly. "I wanted to."
His voice was so gentle, so full of certainty.
And that was when I realized—this was Patrick.
The boy who always noticed the little things about me.
The boy who memorized my coffee order without me ever telling him.
The boy who once gave me his jacket, even though he was the one shivering in the cold.
The boy who let me fall apart in front of him and never once asked me to explain why.
And now, the man who would stand outside my office, just to make sure I wasn't carrying the weight of the world alone.
If this wasn't love, I didn't know what was.
----
I let him take me to a quiet little rooftop restaurant overlooking the city. Candlelit tables, fairy lights wrapped around wooden beams, soft music playing in the background—it was like something out of a dream.
"Patrick," I whispered, taking in the view. "This is... beautiful."
He pulled out my chair for me before sitting down across from me. "You deserve beautiful things."
I almost melted right there.
Dinner was perfect—not just because the food was incredible, but because of him. He was attentive, constantly making sure I was comfortable. He listened, really listened, as I vented about my stressful day. He made me laugh so hard I nearly choked on my drink.
And through it all, he kept looking at me like I was the best thing in his world.
After dinner, we walked along a garden pathway, the city lights twinkling in the distance.
Then, out of nowhere—Patrick stopped walking.
"Close your eyes," he said.
I raised an eyebrow. "Why?"
He smirked. "Trust me."
I sighed but obeyed.
A second later, something cool and metallic touched my skin.
I gasped, eyes flying open, only to find Patrick fastening a delicate silver bracelet around my wrist.
My breath hitched.
"Patrick..." I whispered.
The bracelet was simple but stunning—a thin silver chain with a tiny star charm hanging from it.
"It reminded me of you," he said softly. "You always loved the stars. I saw it and thought... maybe you should have something to wear when you feel lost. A reminder that you'll always find your way."
I couldn't breathe.
It wasn't just a gift.
It was a promise.
I looked up at him, my heart too full, my emotions a tangled mess of love and disbelief.
"You do things like this... and I don't understand how you're real," I admitted, my voice shaky.
Patrick cupped my face gently, his thumb brushing against my cheek. "I'm real, Kat," he murmured. "And I'm right here. Always."
And then, before I could think—
I kissed him.
Not a hesitant, unsure kiss.
A real, overwhelming kiss that tasted like every unsaid word, every bottled-up emotion, every moment I had missed him.
Patrick froze for half a second, like he hadn't expected it.
Then—he kissed me back.
If love had a language, this was it.
His hands curled around my waist, pulling me closer. One hand tangled in my hair, the other rested against my back, holding me like I was something precious.
I felt myself falling all over again.
But this time, I wasn't scared.
This time, I let myself.
When we finally pulled away, I was breathless.
Patrick rested his forehead against mine, his hands still holding me close.
I smiled softly, brushing my fingers through his hair. "You're ruining all other men for me, you know that?"
He chuckled, pressing a soft kiss to my forehead. "Good."
And in that moment, standing under the stars with Patrick holding me like I was his entire world
I knew.
I knew I had found something I never wanted to let go of again.
I always thought love was about words—the confessions, the grand speeches, the whispered promises of forever. But with Patrick, I was starting to realize—sometimes love isn't about what is said. It's about what's done.
And this night, he proved it to me in a way I would never forget.
