Can I Tell You Something – Katelyn Tarver 💬💓
"I think about you all the time..."
----
The next day at Arymeline felt like walking on clouds. I had spent the entire morning replaying the events of last night—the way Patrick had held me, the way he had kissed me, the way he had whispered, "I will never let you cry again." It felt unreal, like something out of a romance movie.
And yet, here I was, standing in the sleek office building, trying to act like my world hadn't just turned upside down.
Adri was already at her desk when I walked in, hunched over sketches with her usual intense focus. But the moment she saw me, a slow, knowing smirk crept onto her lips.
"Here we go."
"Good morning," she said, way too casually, still sketching.
"Morning," I replied, keeping my tone neutral.
Adri looked up from her paper, her smirk widening as she studied my face. "Sooo... had a good night?"
I froze mid-step, my heart skipping a beat.
"What?" I feigned innocence.
Adri leaned on her elbows, eyes twinkling. "Oh, come on, Kat. You're glowing. You look like a girl who just got kissed under the stars."
I rolled my eyes, my cheeks betraying me with a blush. "It was just a conversation."
"Mmhmm." Adri tilted her head. "Just a conversation? That's funny, because last I checked, 'just conversations' don't involve dreamy picnic dates and soft, heart-wrenching confessions."
I groaned, collapsing into my chair. "Why do you know everything?"
"Because, my dear bestie, I am a genius." She winked. "So... you're officially back together?"
I hesitated. "We're... keeping it between us for now. Just to figure things out first."
Adri raised an eyebrow but nodded in understanding. "Alright, fine. But if you think for one second that I won't be watching every single interaction between you two, you are gravely mistaken."
I buried my face in my hands. "You're so annoying."
"And you love me," she sang.
Before I could respond, the office buzzed to life—Flynn was complaining dramatically about his laptop, Theodore was mocking him, and Natalie was already sipping her morning coffee like she had seen too much this early in the day.
I exhaled, trying to shift gears into work mode. But just as I settled in, something hilarious happened.
A loud crash rang through the office.
All heads turned toward Flynn, who had somehow managed to spill his entire cup of coffee across his desk... and his laptop.
"Oh my God, Flynn!" Natalie groaned, grabbing tissues. "What is wrong with you?"
"I SWEAR it wasn't my fault!" Flynn dramatically held up his hands like he was being framed for a crime. "The cup just jumped out of my hands!"
Theodore passed by, side-eyeing him hard. "Sure, dude. Just like your shoelaces untie themselves every other day."
Adri and I burst into laughter, watching as Flynn attempted to salvage his poor laptop.
"Want help?" I asked, walking over with more tissues.
