I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing – Aerosmith 🌠🔥
"I just wanna hold you close, feel your heart so close to mine..."
----
I checked myself in the mirror one last time, smoothing my hair down before grabbing my bag. Okay, cool, casual, not overthinking this.
I was just going to Patrick's place. For dinner. Totally normal.
I was not freaking out.
"Okay, I'm leaving!" I called out as I walked toward the door.
Adri popped her head out from the kitchen, her eyes immediately narrowing with suspicion.
"Hmm," she hummed, leaning against the counter, arms crossed.
I sighed. "What now?"
"You're wearing perfume."
"So?"
"You don't wear perfume when you go out."
I groaned. "Adri, I'm not doing this with you right now."
She smirked. "You're going to Patrick's house for the first time, wearing perfume and looking all soft-girl aesthetic. I'm just saying—is something gonna happen?"
I grabbed a chocolate from the counter and chucked it at her.
She dodged it with a laugh. "Admit it, you're at least a little excited!"
I grabbed my shoes, trying to ignore the heat creeping up my neck. "It's just dinner."
"Uh-huh," she said, watching me struggle to tie my laces. "Just dinner."
"Yes. Just. Dinner."
She tapped her chin dramatically. "But, like, dinner at his house. Where he lives. Alone."
I threw my hands up. "Do you want me to stay here?"
She gasped. "Never! Go, be great, fall in love or whatever."
I rolled my eyes but couldn't help the small smile.
I reached for the doorknob—
"Wait!" Adri called. "Where does Patrick even live?"
"Greenwich village," I answered absentmindedly.
Adri frowned. "Greenwich village? His salary won't be enough to afford rent there."
I snorted. "His salary? His father owns a whole textile company. They can afford more than that."
Her eyebrows shot up. "Ohhh, so rich-rich."
"Yeah. They have more money than they know what to do with."
Adri gave me a knowing look. "Damn. And here you are, pretending this is just dinner."
"Oh my god, I swear, I will actually leave you here."
She grinned but let it go.
Just as I was about to leave, Adri's expression shifted. "Wait! Take an umbrella."
I raised an eyebrow. "Adri, it literally looks fine outside. The sky is clear. No clouds. It's barely even windy."
She shrugged. "I don't trust it. The air feels weird. Take an umbrella."
I snorted. "Oh my god, you sound like an old lady. 'The air feels weird'? Next, you're gonna tell me your knee aches when there's a storm coming."
