Secrets – OneRepublic 🤐💔
"Tell me what you want to hear, something that will light those ears..."

----

The office should've calmed down by now.

But nope.

If anything, the speculation had only gotten worse.

I could barely focus on work because every time I passed by a group of coworkers, someone was whispering about Jade's mystery girl.

At one point, I even saw Lydia smirking to herself, thriving on the chaos, like she loved the fact that her name was being mentioned in all of this—even if it wasn't true.

And Adri?

She hadn't come back.

I checked my phone at least a hundred times, but no texts. No missed calls. Nothing.

I was still staring at my screen when Theo walked over, leaning against my desk.

"She left."

I blinked, looking up. "What?"

"Adri. She left for the day."

I straightened. "What do you mean?"

"She told Mr. Ross she had a headache." Theo shrugged, watching me carefully. "Said she needed to go home."

My stomach twisted.

Adri never left work early.

Not unless something was really wrong.

I chewed my lip, feeling a wave of guilt.

Maybe I should've stopped her. Maybe I should've chased after her instead of pretending everything was fine.

I grabbed my phone, about to text her—

But Theo's voice stopped me.

"You're not gonna ask her, are you?"

I hesitated.

Then sighed.

"No."

Because I knew Adri.

If I asked, she'd just push me away.

But that didn't mean I wasn't going to figure it out.

One way or another—

I was getting the truth.

----

That evening, I went straight to our apartment, determined.

Adri was nowhere to be found in the living room, so I headed straight to her room.

The door was slightly open.

I pushed it silently, peeking inside.

She was curled up on her bed, earbuds in, flipping through a book. A soft hum of music drifted into the air.

But my eyes weren't on her.

They were on the sketchbook beside her.

I tilted my head.

The design on the page was stunning.

And—hold up.

The initials in the corner?

J.K.

Jade Kason.

Adri snatched the book up before I could comment, hugging it to her chest.
