Higher – Bishop Briggs 🌌🔥
"I get so high, I touch the sun..."
----
The tension in the air was palpable. Every single person in the office knew today was a big deal. It wasn't every day that Jade Kason, one of the biggest global artists, walked into the Arymeline offices.
And judging by the way Adri kept fidgeting with her sketchbook, she was feeling it too.
"He might not even remember you," I whispered, leaning in so only she could hear.
She let out a breath she'd probably been holding since we got to work. "Yeah... maybe."
But neither of us had time to dwell on that thought.
Because just then—
He walked in.
And damn.
There were celebrities, and then there was Jade Kason.
Tall. Effortlessly stylish. Dressed in a fitted black coat over a white shirt, paired with silver jewelry that gleamed under the office lights. His hair was tousled, perfectly undone in that I-woke-up-like-this-but-better way. His presence was commanding, yet he moved with a kind of calm confidence, the kind that made people stop and stare.
And oh—did they stare.
Everyone, from junior designers to seasoned executives, was trying not to look directly at him, but failing miserably.
Lydia? She was practically glowing.
Adri?
Frozen.
She stiffened beside me the second he stepped into the room, her knuckles white against her sketchbook.
I held my breath, waiting—watching to see if his gaze would land on her, if that flicker of recognition would spark in his dark eyes.
But...
Nothing.
He walked right past our team without so much as a glance, making his way toward the front of the room where Ross stood waiting.
Adri exhaled, then grinned—way too carefree for someone who just escaped chaos.
The old Adri was back.
She thought she was safe.
I wasn't so sure.
——
The presentation began.
Everyone assembled their outfits.
The first team to present was Lydia's team.
And oh, was she making the most of this moment.
She strutted up to the front, radiating smug confidence, her voice dripping with charm as she explained the details of her collection. She was playing it up, making sure to lock eyes with Jade as she spoke—flipping her hair, laughing softly at her own explanations.
To his credit, Jade was polite. Professional. He nodded, gave her his full attention, but his expression remained unreadable.
Still, Lydia practically glowed with satisfaction, like she was already imagining her victory.
Next was Wilson's team. Their designs were good, but it was clear they weren't quite as strong.
Lydia's smirk grew.
