No One – Alicia Keys 🔥💖
"No one, no one, no one... can get in the way of what I'm feeling for you."
----
Patrick hadn't given up—not even for a second.
Every single day, like clockwork, he showed up at our house. Rain or shine, he stood on the porch, knocking on the door, waiting for a chance to talk to my father.
Every single day, my dad turned him away.
And every single day, Patrick came back anyway.
He didn't beg. He didn't argue. He just showed up, unwavering, relentless, determined.
Because he loved me. Because he wasn't giving up on us.
Because we deserved a chance.
My dad wasn't just mad about the past—he was mad that Patrick's family had once been so quick to believe the worst about me. That after Olivia's accident, they had accused me without hesitation, called me a murderer without proof.
Even when Olivia had recovered and told the truth—that I hadn't pushed her, that Alista, in her jealousy, had lied to ruin me—the damage was already done. My father had never forgiven the Penningtons for it.
But none of that stopped Patrick.
He just kept fighting.
----
That morning, I sat in the living room, scrolling aimlessly through my phone, trying not to feel like my life was falling apart. My dad was in his office, pretending to work. The house was too quiet.
Then—
The doorbell rang.
I already knew who it was. My heart sank. I could picture exactly how it would go: Patrick would knock, my dad would open the door, and the same cold rejection would follow.
Except...
Something was different this time.
I heard the door creak open. Then—Patrick's voice.
"Mr. Carter, please. Just hear me out."
There was no desperation in his tone. No begging. Just calm, steady determination.
My dad's voice came next, sharp and irritated. "For God's sake, Patrick. What part of 'stay away from my daughter' do you not understand?"
"I understand why you're angry," Patrick replied, unshaken. "I know my parents hurt Kat. And I know I haven't done enough to prove to you that I love her, but I'm here to change that."
My hands gripped the couch cushion.
I had to see this.
Slowly, I crept toward the hallway, peeking around the corner.
Patrick stood on the porch, soaked from the morning rain, but still holding his ground. His eyes locked on my dad's, steady and unwavering.
"What could you possibly say now that will make any difference?" my dad asked bitterly.
Patrick didn't flinch.
"I've been trying to show you, every single day, that I'm not going anywhere. I love Kat, and I want to be with her. I know my family made a horrible mistake when they believed Alista's lies, but they apologized. Olivia told the truth, and we know Kat wasn't at fault. But this isn't just about fixing the past anymore."
