Jenny’s POV
I paced around Ian’s home, staring at the clock in annoyance and counting the hours in which they had been gone. It’s almost twelve hours and they still aren’t back yet. I couldn’t bring myself to remain calm because all I could think of was if Sophia had been harmed.
If she was…dead. It hurt me to think like that but I didn’t have the choice but to think like that. Whether I liked it or not, I had to prepare my mind for all the bad news that could come with their return. She could be dead. Something terrible must have happened to her. I just hoped it wasn’t the case but now I couldn’t get that out of my head.
And in the same way, I couldn’t get what Ian had told me out of my head. They were vampires. He was the king of their realm. King of their realm! That felt so surreal. I didn’t know what to believe and what not to. And I knew I wouldn’t have believed a word from him if he didn’t show me himself.
If his brother and those guys hadn’t moved in that inhumane speed which they did. If he hadn’t shown me his eyes. Fuck. It was hard to believe, but I had no choice but to believe. I saw it with my own two eyes yet…fuck. I didn’t know what to think anymore.
I ran my hands through my hair in frustration and my eyes went back to be time once again. Why weren’t they back yet? It was very dark now and I was getting scared. What if someone came for me? What if someone was going to kill me? Yet they had locked me in here and I had tried to find a way out but that was going to work at all.
I ran my hands through my hair in frustration one more time and jumped when the door pushed open. Fuck. How had I nod heard that there was someone outside in the first place?
I picked up a knife, ready to attack whoever it was but it was Ian that came in, holding Sophia in his arms. A lady walked in after him, a bag in her hands and then Jacob came in last, locking the door behind him.
I didn’t know what to do, whether to run to Ian and see if my best friend was really okay or if I should point my knife to that woman. She could be the same Freya which wanted to kill Sophia and she could kill me too…
I pointed the knife to her and she paused waking, raising a brow at me. “Who are you?” I demanded.
“Who are you?” She asked in the same irritated tone then she turned to Ian. “And who is this one too?”
“She’s Sophie’s best friend,” he answered, pausing a bit and then walking to the couch. He dropped Sophie on it gently.
“And why is she here?” The lady demanded.
“I had no choice but to tell her, Lyanna,” he answered tiredly. “I trust her anyways.”
“It’s funny just how fast you’re trusting these humans,” she murmured flatly, shaking her head slightly.
“Let’s not forget that you’re a human too,” Ian murmured flatly, brushing Sophia’s hair away from her face. She looked like she was sleeping. She looked peaceful.
“I’m a witch. There’s a difference,” the Lyanna snapped and I frowned.
“A witch?” I repeated.
“Oh, you’re in awe?” The lady replied and grinned. I narrowed my eyes at her. I didn’t have the time to process all that they were saying at the moment so I decided to drop it till later. I just needed to know if Sophia was okay.
I held the knife tightly. I might still need it. “What’s wrong with her? Is she okay?” I asked as I slowly approached her. I raised one hand and touched her skin. It was like I had just dipped my hands into a bowl of cold water.
