Ian’s POV

I paced around my room, wondering if I should just go to Sophia and apologize, or if I should go back to the realm instantly and then come back later and speak to her.

I ran my hands through my hair, feeling confused. Lyanna wanted me to apologize and talk to Sophia but my ego was too big to just give in to that just like that. But she was right. I should just speak to her. A part of me understood what Sophia was going through, struggling to adjust to a world thy she was not born into. It was hard, but she didn’t have much of a choice but to do that.

I sighed, deciding that I’d go over to her and talk to her. I missed her so much. I missed her too much to keep punishing myself by not taking to her, because truth be told, I was punishing myself and no one else.

“Ian, you ready or not?” Jacob asked, poking his head into my room and I nodded.

“Yeah I am. But, I want us to makes stop at Sophia and Jenny’s apartment first. I need to talk to Sophia,” I replied.

“You sure about that?” He asked with a raised eyebrow. “I thought you both were…like…on a break or something.”

“We’re not,” I replied curtly and picked up a my jacket. I stepped out of my room and shit the door and we began to walk out of the house.

We got into the car and drove straight to Jenny’s house. Lyanna was supposed to be here with us but she told us shed meet us at the realm instead. And I wouldn’t be surprised if she would be there before us.

The car came to an halt in the front of Jenny’s house and something felt odd to me. And I was sure I wasn’t the only one feeling that way. I turned my head to look at my brother and he was staring at their entrance, his jaw clenched like he could already sense what was wrong.

I opened the door and stepped out of the car. Jenny’s car was in the driveway. Everything seemed normal but I couldn’t help the feeling that something was odd.

I walked up to the door and knocked once. There was no reply. I knocked again and I still didn’t get a reply. A scowl appeared on my face and I looked at my brother. He got the hint instantly and he zoomed off into the woods. It didn’t take long before he came back with one of the men who was supposed to be watching them.

“Where are they?” I demanded.

“They’re in the house, your Grace. They’ve been in the house since and they haven’t stepped out,” he explained.

“Then care to explain why none of them have come to the door yet?” I demanded with narrowed eyes. His eyes furrowed a bit before he came closer and touched the door. It pushed open like it was never even locked in the first place. My scowl deepened.

I stormed into the house and looked around. Jenny and Sophia weren’t anywhere here. I turned back to the guy but Jacob had beat me to it, grabbing him by the throat and slamming him on the wall. “Where the fuck are they?!” He demanded.

“Your Grace…” The guy sputtered, coughing out blood.

“How did they manage to slip out under your watch?” I demanded.

“Boss, I promise I was watching…” He began but I walked up to him and punched him in the face.

“Find. Them!” I spat, turning around and storming off, leaving him alone as he coughed out blood.

Jacob was behind me and I got into the car, waiting for him to join me before I sped off.

It was almost time for thee council meeting and I still hadn’t heard anything whether they have been found or not. There was a huge scowl on my face as I paced around my room and wondered how the hell Jenny and Sophia manged to slip out even when the men were watching them.

This was the same thing they did the last time that almost got them killed but now it seemed like they weren’t even learning at all. I have had enough with them.

I gritted my teeth as I continued pacing up and down the room. “You really should calm down, Ian,” Lyanna murmured, reminding me that she was still in my room.

She had been doing a locator spell on the both of them but I doubted it was working because we were in the realm not in the human world.

“You can’t tell me to calm down, Lyanna! These girls really want to have themselves killed!” I snapped. “The least they could do it to obey and stay in the house when they don’t have classes. Why the fuck can’t they obey that simple order?”

“They’re still trying to adjust to this life,” she reminded me.

“Then they should be quick and get on with it!” I snapped, running my hands through my hair in frustration. “I swear to God, she’s gonna be the death of me.”

There was a soft knock on the door and then it pushed open a bit. “Your Grace, the council members are waiting for you in the council room.”

“Thanks,” I murmured to the servant and began to walk out of my room. “Lyanna, I need you there.”

“Me?” She asked, her tone indicating how puzzled she was. “Why?”

“I don’t trust them enough,” I murmured flatly and she frowned.

“They shouldn’t be following you if you don’t trust them,” she murmured back.

“What am I supposed to do? They hate me. Some of them hate me and there’s nothing more that they’d like than for me to be dead,” I reminded her. “I need you there to protect me.”

“I’m afraid I’m no match for a bunch of old vampires,” she murmured.

“You are. That’s why you’re with me,” I answered her and walked out of the room. It wasn’t long before I heard her footsteps behind me..

As I walked to the council room, I wondered what each I was doing wrong regarding Sophia. Was I being too harsh on her? Too bossy? To hard?

Did I need to loosen up on her a bit? She was really driving me crazy with her crazy attitude and her stubbornness wasn’t exactly helping manners. It was just complicating things even more.

When I get back to the human realm, she and I are going to have this discussion at length.
