Jenny’s POV
“Dear God,” I murmured, walking around the kitchen with a scowl on my face as I opened and slammed the cabinets close. I was frustrated. I wanted something to eat and I couldn’t find any quick snack in the kitchen to eat. It annoyed the shit out of me.
The last time I had gone shopping, I had made sure to stock the house up with junks so it’ll take time before we run out of that stuff. But here we were, barely a month after, already out of snacks.
And I couldn’t tell who exactly was taking the snacks. There was Sophia, who lived in the house with me and I’ve never known her to have sweet tooth. And then there was also Ian, Jacob and Lyanna. I couldn’t bring myself to imagine Ian and Jacob taking this much snacks. The image seemed awkward in my head. Which left only on person. Lyanna.
I scoffed with a roll of my eyes. I couldn’t bring myself to believe that she was the one honjad been feeding off on my snacks all this while that she has been coming to our place. It eemed he new solution was to lock up whatever snacks I’ll be getting now, inside my room. That way I could keep track of whoever went into my room and was taking the snacks.
I opened the freezer and poured myself a glass of orange juice from the juice pack and frowned when I saw that it was aso the last pack of juice I was taking.
But seriously, who was taking all my snacks? These were, like what I needed whenever I was hungry and too lazy to cook. I guess now I had no choice but to fix up something quick for myself to eat.
It wasn’t like I was very hungry, but I had gotten myself mentally worked up over the fact that Jacob was coming over, that I was going to see him today.
Truth be told, I thought they’d already be here by this time but they weren’t and I didn’t want to ask Sophia what time they were coming. Didn’t she say early in the morning? But I couldn’t exactly remember our conversation. And it’d be hard to ask casually because I’ve been shutting down every topic about Jacob and I that Sophia had been bringing up. I couldn’t admit to her that I actually liked him. That I actually liked Jacob.
Yes, that was what I was going to call it for the mean time. I “Liked” him, even though I more than liked him. I hadn’t figured out what exactly it was yet but I wasn’t ready to do that yet. I was actually still scared to do that so it was better I just put that aside till I was ready to figure it out.
“You good?”
My head snapped up at Sophia’s voice. I raised a brow at her. “When did you get here?” I asked her.
“I’ve been standing here for a few minutes and you’ve just been…you zoned out or something like that. And you had this annoyed look on your face,” she replied.
“Well…” I trailed off with a frown. “Someone has been eating all our snacks.”
“Don’t tell me that’s the reason you had that terrible scowl on your face, like you want to beat someone up?” She asked, chuckling lightly.
“Uhm…yes. Those snacks were supposed to last us for a log while, Soph. They were quite a lot. And I swear to God, if I find out who has been doing that…” I began but she caught me off.
“I’m the one,” she said with a sigh, taking a step back from me.
I gasped, my eyes going wide. “Oh you’ve got to be fucking kidding me. You have been the one eating our snacks?!”
“I’m sorry. In my defense, I only ate them because I was hungry,” she replied, raising her hands in surrender.
“Hungry?!” I snapped. “And you couldn’t, like, get up and col something to eat? Saying you’re hungry is not an excuse for that, Soph.”
“Hey, are you angry about that or you’re angry about something else entirely?” She asked and I huffed, rolling my eyes and walking away from her.
“I’m going to get the snacks and I better not see your hands in them,” I mumbled as I walked away, grabbing my phone and stepping out of the house. She didn’t chase after me. I wasn’t interested in driving to the grocery store so I just decided to walk instead.
It took a while for me to get there but when I did, it didn’t take time for me to fish out all the things I wanted to get for myself and pay for it.
I walked out of the store and frowned when I noticed a car parked at the far end of the road. I could tell that the engine was on and my from for deeper when I wondered who would even bother to leave their car’s engine running when they weren’t in it.
Unless there was someone inside of the car? I couldn’t tell because the windows were really tinted.
I tucked a strand of my hair behind my ears and began to walk back home, holding the bag of snacks in one hand and my phone in the other.
After walking a while, I turned around and checked to see if the car was there but then it was already moving slowly. That as just too sketchy and my heart began thinking in my ears. What if the person inside was trailing me? I couldn’t help but think that way because of this new life I was exposed to. There was always one person or the ther chasing after me and Sophia and it was just too scary.
If Sophia was here with me then I wouldn’t have bothered much but she wasn’t. God. I shouldn’t have left the house all on my own. What had I been thinking? And I didn’t tell Sophia the exact place that I was coming to.
I raised my phone, unlocking the screen and going straight to my contacts while I quickened my pace. The least I could do was call her, or Jacob, and tell them the situation Of things right now.
My heart was thumping loudly in my chest as I tried my best to walk as fast a I could while my finger hovered over Sophia’s contact for a moment then scrolled down to a Jacob’s contact. Just as I was about to dial his number, my phone went off.
“Fuck,” I cussed, groaning and running my hands through my hair in frustration. How could I have been so careless that I didn’t care my phone?
I looked back again and saw that the car was still on my trail, closing in on me this time. I looked front and bumped into a person standing in front of me. This person hadn’t been there before…where did they come from?
“Hi,” the male said with a bright smile before covering my nose with a white handkerchief. I inhaled, and everything went dark instantly.
