"Mr. Pierceton, to what do I owe the pleasure?" I said after I opened the door and I saw Dominic Pierceton standing in front of my desk, his blue eyes looking at the framed certificates, diplomas and other things that hold sentimental values that decorated my office walls.
It had felt like our roles were reversed because not too long ago, I was the one who barged into his office.
"Hm, I just came here to support my brother and have a brief chat with you as you already know." He replied calmly and gave me a calculated and charismatic smile that reminds me of how much of a good politician he is. I was already in the campus helping the marketing department with public relations—-handing out freebies with the school campus' logo, optics such as taking pictures for the school's social media. I had a hidden agenda for that one that includes taunting a certain six-foot-seven, tattooed political science student, who also happened to be an athlete.
I also helped by greeting the families of the students and other high-profiled guests in front of the indoor gymnasium where the first game of men's basketball will be held.I was there greeting people and waiting for him to take my bait, when his brother, Dominic, texted me and asked if we could meet here in my office. I gave him the passcode of my office door so he could welcome himself while I was still busy with some more guests. I could always change it anyway and I already made sure that there is no evidence lying around in here somewhere.
One thing I learned about being a defense attorney is that I knew how to clean up after myself when I don't want certain things to be found.
"A juris doctor and a philosophical doctor. Dåmn, very impressive." He said instead and took a seat in front of my desk, while I went around the table and had a seat on my swivel chair.
I leaned forward and intertwined my fingers before I rested them on the surface of my desk. I didn't miss how his eyes subtly ran on my exposed skin and unlike his brother, I didn't feel anything about his gaze. There was nothing special about it, instead I thought of how much Elijah wouldn't like that.
"You're an only child and daughter of a renowned Supreme Court Judge. You even followed in his footsteps, became a lawyer—-a big hotshot one, became a professor and many other respectable roles. You have quite a reputation, Attorney Wencezlao." He said.
"Thank you." Tipid kong sagot. "While I appreciate the compliments, I hope that you didn't come all the way here just to fanboy over me." I sarcastically added.
He chuckled and crossed his slacked-covered legs. As usual, he was wearing a gray three-piece suit, a shiny smile and not a hair out of place. There were still faint bruises on his handsome face and the stitches appeared to be healing.
"You know, Elijah had a childhood sweetheart, her name's Ashely Tisdale. She doesn't look like you at all, she has brown eyes, brunette and very bubbly. I remember when we were just kids, he would bring her some candies, play with her and do all this stuff. Dad and I thought that they would end up together when they grow up because they just spend so much time together and I could tell that my brother really liked her...."
"....but high school happened and Ashely had a boyfriend. Now, I was expecting Elijah to cry about it, be broken hearted but he didn't. You know, I've never seen him cry except when our mother passed away.....and until you stopped talking to him."
My heart dropped. He shifted in his seat and took a deep breath.
"..My brother is never the compliant type so imagine my surprise that whenever it has something to do with you, he will be more than willing to do whatever it takes and god, he cried."
