It's Sunday morning, and you're jolted awake by the sound of the delivery guy ringing again at your doorbell.
"Again?"You sigh, still half-asleep, and open the door with squinting eyes.
"Good morning," he says, handing you a package.
"Morning to you too," you mumble with half asleep, taking the box.
*What now?* You toss it on the table, deciding to deal with it after freshening up.
**Ten minutes later...**
Adam's happily munching away at breakfast, totally oblivious to the mini-crisis brewing in your head as you stare at the package. Your eyes scan every inch—no sender, no address, no clue at all. Just a mystery waiting to mess with your overthinking brain.
You sigh and decide to just rip it open, and what's inside nearly sends you spiraling—a smartphone. But not just any phone. This is the most expensive one out there, like, the kind you only see in tech blogs or influencers' hands.
*What the hell? * Your thoughts run wild. *Who in their right mind would send me something like this? Am I being tracked? Or worse, is this thing rigged to blow up or something?* You shake your head, trying to calm down. *No way. There's gotta be a mistake. This was meant for someone else. The delivery guy totally messed up the address. I mean, even my stalker wouldn't go this far, right? They can't know I don't have a phone anymore, can they?*
You put the phone back in the box and turn to Adam. "Hey, when you're done, get ready. We need to hit the post office. I'm pretty sure this was meant for someone else."
Adam looks up from his cereal with that casual grin. "Yeah, no problem, just give me five minutes."
Meanwhile, your mind's already racing ahead, wondering if this is the universe's weird way of messing with you... again.
**About twenty minutes later, you're about to leave when the new doorman stops you.**
"Hey, Y/N, how's it going?"
You flash a polite smile. "Good, thanks. How about you?" You've barely spoken to him before; your building only recently got a doorman, and he's still kind of new.
"Doing great, thanks for asking. Just thought you'd wanna know—a group of guys came by yesterday looking for you. Quite a few of them, actually."
You blink, caught off guard. You weren't expecting anyone, and you're not exactly the only student in the building. *He's probably confusing me with one of the other girls.* You chuckle, trying to play it off. "Oh, I wasn't expecting anyone. They probably had the wrong person. I get mistaken for other people all the time."
But the doorman shakes his head, a small grin forming on his face. "No, they specifically asked for you."
Your stomach tightens a bit. *What?* "How did they look?" you ask, though you're not sure you want to know the answer.
He scratches his head, thinking. "All young guys. Seemed pretty charismatic."
You let out an awkward laugh, starting to feel like this is all some weird mix-up. *Okay, there's no way this is about me. Maybe they were frat boys looking for the party crowd upstairs.*
