[TARDIS - Kitchen Two]
The Alchemist, wearing her butterfly apron, softly hums as she cracks another egg into the creamy blend of cinnamon and vanilla bean that has been soaking the rustic bread. The TARDIS is currently singing another tune in her mind.
During their travels with Martha, the trio enjoyed exclusive cooking lessons from culinary legends Marie-Antoine Carême and Auguste Escoffier in the 19th century. Although she might never match the Doctor's omelet, her scrambled eggs are a clear winner. And this body might not touch meat, but she's top-notch with many French recipes.
The evening before reuniting with Donna, she and the Doctor took a quick trip to Paris in July 1972 to gather fresh produce, including fruits, vegetables, bread, and eggs. After grabbing a bite at a café, they enjoyed a leisurely stroll, savoring their time together. Now, she has a stale baguette that needs to be used.
The Time Lady has decided to test the brekkie waters with Donna by making 'pain perdu' or French toast with mixed berries covered in dark chocolate shavings.
She can hear Donna's steps in the hall just as she finishes hand-squeezing the grapefruit juice.
"Mornin', Donna," the Alchemist calls out as the woman enters.
The new companion stops short before moaning at the scents wafting around the room.
"Good Morning. What are you cooking?" she asks with a grin, having already experienced the Time Lady's Ratatouille the night before.
"French toast!" she smiles over her shoulder, "I'm just on the last batch, so the Doctor will be in soon."
"Fantastic," Donna gasps and assists by moving the plates to the round table with three iron stools surrounding it.
"Do you prefer tea or coffee, Donna?" the Time Lady asks as she flicks the switch on the kettle.
She laughs, "Oh, tea by far! I avoid coffee these days."
The Alchemist giggles, "Go ahead and pick what you like, then. Second cabinet from the right on top."
Donna opens the decorative cabinet door with a dropped jaw, seeing the many tins of tea before her.
"Oh, Twinings! Very posh," she laughs as she takes out the large tin of tea bags.
"Mm, the Doctor prefers that one," the Alchemist nods, "Can you also get me the blood orange, please?"
Donna nods, "Got it."
The woman drops the three tea bags into the teacups. She notes with amusement that two of them are Christmas cups shaped like decorated trees.
The Time Lady places the last piece of dipped bread on the griddle, "If you want to pick a different cup, there's plenty in the first cabinet to choose from."
