[Outside the Nobles' home]
"He's going to choke!" Donna cries.
"It won't open!" the Doctor calls back, still working furiously to sonic the doors.
The Alchemist shoves her husband aside and reaches out to the Vortex, her eyes sparking with energy. As her fingers touch the driver's side door, the metal trembles, rusting on contact, while the glass slowly dissolves into fine grains of sand.
Just then, Sylvia rushes out with an axe, arriving as the car door collapses into nothing.
The Doctor and Donna exchange stunned glances, reeling from the abrupt transformation.
"Well... well, don't just stand there," Mrs. Noble urges, brandishing the axe, "Get him out!"
The Alchemist is already pulling the unconscious man through the now-open frame. As she steps back onto the sidewalk, he stirs in her arms.
"Thanks," Wilf breathes.
"Don't mention it," the Alchemist replies, helping him to his feet.
Donna turns to her mother with a sigh, "I can't believe you've got an axe."
"Bur–burglars," she stammers, then shifts her gaze to the Time Lady, "Thank you... for saving him. I don't know how you did that, but thank you."
The Alchemist studies her for a beat, then gives a single nod without answering. She may not like the woman, but this is Donna's family—and she's long vowed to protect every companion's kin and always offer them a chance.
"Get inside the house," the Doctor instructs, "Just try and close off the doors and windows."
The Alchemist gestures them forward, "Tape all around them. Seal yourself in."
Ross pulls up in a black cab and leans out the window, "Doctor, Alchemist, this is all I could find that hasn't got ATMOS."
The Doctor and his wife sprint to the cab. He calls back, "Donna, you coming?"
"Yeah!" she shouts, glancing back as her mother grips her grandfather.
"Donna!" Mrs. Noble pleads, clutching her daughter's arm, "Don't go. Look what happens every time that Doctor and Alchemist appear. Look what she did! That shouldn't be possible! Stay with us, please."
"You go, my darling!" Wilf insists, brushing Sylvia's hand away and nodding to Donna.
"Dad!" Donna's mother protests.
"Don't listen to her! You go with the Doctor and Ally," he beams as Donna runs to the cab, "That's my girl!" he grins as she climbs in beside the Alchemist, "Bye!"
[Cab]
The Alchemist silently sighs, 'Not-Martha won't know about my abilities unless I mention them. But I'm running low now; that took a lot out of me. I haven't used that ability to such an extent before.'
'You'll need to keep quiet about it and rest later, then,' the Time Lord replies.
'I'll be able to block it telepathically, won't take much. Should I go up with Donna or join her after?'
'No, no way, I need you down here,' he replies, and she turns and glares at the back of his head.
Ross glances in the rearview mirror and sees the heavy frown marring the Alchemist's face.
"Are you alright, Alchemist?" he asks.
She hears Ross but is too frustrated to answer, 'We'll be putting her at risk if we send her up alone.'
