Darkness enveloped us as we moved deeper into the opening, the flashlight’s beam barely penetrating the thick air. The silence was unsettling, with only the clank of Echo’s frame and my own heartbeat breaking it.

We navigated through a narrow passage, strange symbols etched into the damp walls flickering under the light. “Echo, do you recognize these symbols?” I asked, uneasy.

“Insufficient data. They do not match any known language,” it replied, its tone steady despite the eeriness.

We reached a larger chamber and halted. A massive console sat in the center, pulsing faintly like a heartbeat. “Let’s check it out,” I suggested, curiosity battling my fear.

As I approached, the console's screen flickered to life, revealing garbled data streams. “These readings are almost identical to what we saw in Sector C,” I noted, excitement creeping in.

“Unauthorized access detected. Recommend shutdown to prevent corruption,” Echo warned.

But I couldn’t back down. “What if this leads us to the anomalies?” I pressed, fingers hovering above the keys.

As I input a command, alarms blared, and the lights flickered violently. The air crackled with energy, and a jolt ran through me as the room trembled.

“Critical failure! We must evacuate!” Echo urged, panic rising.

Before I could respond, the ground shook violently, and the console exploded in sparks, filling the air with an unearthly shriek.

“Xenon, now!” Echo shouted, urgency in its voice.

We bolted through the passage as the walls vibrated around us, the station’s heartbeat quickening. Whatever we had uncovered felt like the start of something dark—and there was no telling what awaited us in the shadows.
