Together Again

Split 2 - Kanan's P.O.V

I wake up on hard solid ground and fire near by. I open my eyes to see the roof of a cave and the soft light the comes from a well stoked fire. I hear foot steps and open my eyes to see Steel walking into the cave with sticks. Ezra sits next to the fire poking it. I stay quiet hoping to pick on talk between them. Steel sits down. He blocks himself but I can feel his fear, anger, confusion, and desperation.

Ezra looks at me but he shifts so none of the light lands on me so he can't see my eyes are open. "What are we going to tell Kanan when he wakes up?" Ezra asks Steel who just stares at the fire.

He breaths in deeply. "The truth." Steel says when he finally looks up. Ezra stares at him like he's crazy.

"You've lost it! If we tell him that we're, we're all lost on this planet separated he will lost it! He already lost Lyra again. He can't handle the fact that we're separated!" Ezra burst.

"I know but he has to know. You should never keep secrets from your master. I know from personal experience with Lyra." He says smiling.

"Can you tell me about it? Lyra never shares stories." Ezra says and Steel laughs.

" that's because she doesn't trust anyone and sure. Why not? It won't hurt you. Its actually really good story. One of the best stories that we share." He says smiling.

"So we were on Tatooine at one of the rebel groups. Lyra and I went out for supplies so we could go home. Lyra decided that to get more we would split up. I ended up getting in trouble with some bounties-." Ezra stops Steel there.

"Bounties?" Ezra asks him and Steel laughs as if the answer is obvious.

"It's what Lyra and I used to call bounty hunters till we became ones ourselves." Steel says before he jumps back into the story. "I got away... Or so I thought. They followed me till I found Lyra and we ran out of town. She asked me later that day what happened but I lied and said that some thief was stealing and was caught. She asked if that thief happened to be me and I glared at her telling her no. We decided to go back out into town the next day and get what we needed so that's what we did." Steel sighs. "The bounties found Lyra and jumped her. Of course she fought and then ran but they won in the end. By the time I got to her position she was gone. When she woke up she was at Jaba's the bounties had sold her as his slave. Of course I went after her. This was a little after Lyra and I became Bounty Hunters so I changed into my bounty hunter clothes and went after her. She's afraid of ending back there. I'd blame myself but Lyra yells at me when she sense I am because I shouldn't hold onto ANYTHING from the past." Steel says finishing his story.

"W-what happened to Lyra when she was there?" I hear Ezra asks him and I open my eyes to see him, Steel, shake his head.

"You too young to know and besides you need sleep. You are the one who dragged Kanan and me into this cave." He says. Now I wonder... What other secrets does Lyra have.
