Riki's POV
One hand on the wheel, the other kept wanting to wander over to Jungwon's shifter. Not the one between the seats.
Fuckass thoughts.
I gripped the wheel tighter.
He was dead quiet during the ride. I almost thought he was dead. Shame. Dying before anything interesting could happen.
But nope. He'd just been staring at the sky ever since he saw I hadn't stalled at the first traffic light. Somehow, he trusted a killer to drive him to his doom.
"Riki?"
I wasn't looking at the road anymore. I was looking at him. My foot grew lazy on the gas. The speed shot up.
"Brake."
I licked my lips. Not even "slow down," just "brake." Jungwon thrilled me more than going 100 mph.
Next exit was The Hills. I'd already figured that out with Jaeyun.
11:54 PM: no hills for you tonight 11:57 PM: Why? 11:57 PM: don't wanna have blood on your hands do you? 11:58 PM: They're all yours, Ki
Ki? Such a cute nickname for a guy with blood on his mouth.
"Riki... please slow down."
He shook my shoulder.
I was mesmerized by the rosary hanging from the rearview mirror. Only a guy like Jungwon would put something religious in a place as filthy as his car was about to become.
He didn't notice that weird smell?
Next step: a rosary on my gun so God forgives every bullet that comes out of it.
"Doesn't the speed get you going? I could do this all night." I slowed down, dropped a gear, and took the exit.
The speed. The empty road. The rosary tapping the windshield. Jungwon's pleas.
That's how I wanted to die.
"Yeah. Jungkook and I used to hit the industrial areas, race each other, do dumb shit. But he's not into that anymore."
I hummed.
Not into that anymore?
"Yeah. 'Cause he's dead."
Jungwon's jaw clenched.
"Konon's your sister?"
My tongue pressed against my cheek. Yeah. Unfortunately.
