Rose's POV

I stared at my feet as I walked down the stairs, half-asleep and sore from last night. Every step pulled at muscles I didn't even know I had, making me grip the banister a little tighter.

No pilates class could ever compete with Jaeyun.

The farther down I went, the warmer it got. It was usually the other way around, unless the fireplace was on.

Which made no sense. It was warm outside. Why would Jaeyun light a fire?

"Jae?"

I checked the kitchen first, thinking maybe he was making French toast. I must've missed the part of the recipe that involved heating up the whole house.

The kitchen looked exactly as we'd left last night, if leaving our clothes scattered around after three rounds counted.

"Leaving room," he said, all mechanical.

Even a gps had more energy than Jaeyun. How do you get this tired just from existing when your wife is gorgeous, there's a Ferrari parked across the street, and you're the best lawyer in town?

I walked into the living room to find him sitting on the fur rug by the fireplace.

Shirtless, hair plastered to his forehead with sweat like he'd just woken up from a nightmare, eyes heavy in the firelight.

He'd been awake since six in the morning, and it was around nine. I heard him get up, checked the time, then fell back asleep.

Too lazy to care. I hadn't slept enough when I was convinced I'd never see him again.

"Honey, you okay?"

He looked up at me, turning his head slightly. "Yeah. You?"

Me? Fine. Apparently living with two different men. Horny at night, a lazy slacker in the morning.

"Care to explain?" I glanced toward the fireplace, crossing my arms over my chest.

That's when I saw it.

The Prada shirt he'd been wearing the other night burning in the flames. His mother's gift. His favorite shirt, the one he always took to the dry cleaner's when neither of us had time to do laundry, was nothing but ashes.

Jaeyun rubbed his eyes, trying to look more awake, pulling himself together. The last thing he wanted first thing in the morning was to piss me off.

"I had a pretty bad nosebleed on that shirt, so I'm just getting rid of it."

He tugged on my left leg, his hand wrapping around it as he pulled me down to sit.

"Is that lie true? You've been acting weird lately." By lately, I meant ever since he got back from that opening's after-party.
