Dominic

I don't have a purpose
Who am I enough for?
Why we always lose what we work for?
Why we hurt more?

Staring at the rough texture of the popcorn ceiling above me seemed to be the only thing keeping me sane as I lay here thinking of all the events that took place at Chris and Mari's Airbnb tonight. From Kevin being on some weird and watching Chris and Mari fuck to me and  Nayeli fucking in the downstairs bathroom and Raelle finding out about it. My body tried its hardest to force me to sleep but every time I attempted to close my eyes, Raelle's tear-streaked face was all I saw.

After Chris had calmed her down enough to stay the night, I tried to get here alone so that I could apologize but she refused to speak to me. I can't say she wasn't valid in her avoidance of me, but the guilt of her finding out I fucked someone else was eating me alive. I needed her to hear the sincerity in my voice when I told her I was sorry.

An internal battle was raging inside of me because we weren't together so I didn't owe her any loyalty, but that didn't seem to matter to my heart every time the image of her weakly pounding her fist into my chest as I held her sob wracked body in my arms crossed my mind. Seeing her cry like that because of something I did fucked me up more than I thought it would. Tonight let me know that no matter how much I didn't want to, I still loved her. Never in a million years did I think shit would get this bad between us. My drunken state last night forced me into a reality of truth that sober me constantly tried to suppress daily.

Nayeli stirring slightly on my chest brought me back to reality. As I lay here looking up at the ceiling she was securely tucked into my side. I couldn't tell you how we ended up like this but I couldn't say I minded because her body felt warm against mine. My left arm was draped loosely around her waist as her head lay on my chest. I found myself absentmindedly tracing patterns on her back as her breathing remained slow and steady letting me know she was still asleep.

After Rae and I's big blow up the party was pretty much over. Everyone dispersed from the area we were occupying outside to go to their respective areas of the house to get some sleep. Mari and Raelle slept in her and Chris' room while he slept in Mama J's since she wasn't here. Dreka and Kevin took the couch while Nayeli and I took the extra guest bedroom.

I could see the sunlight peeking through the sheer curtains in the room letting me know it had to at least be almost 7 in the morning. The liquor I drank had worn off hours ago so the incoming sunlight from the window was causing a migraine. Releasing a deep sigh, I mentally prepared myself to get up so that I could start my day. My body felt like I had been hit by a bus as I dragged myself out of bed, careful not to disturb Nayelei. Thankfully there was a connected bathroom in the room we were in, so I didn't have to go far in my search for pain relief.
