ALMOST ENOUGH #19
Sharyn’s POV
“This is your grand idea of our first official date, Latisha?” Hunter stared at me, disbelief all over his face as I held up the wig. Halata mo na na-stress siya bigla pero nagawa pa rin niya na kumalma. “Disguises and commuting? That’s your plan?”
“You said you wanted to make it memorable. This will be memorable. Come on! It'll be your first time.”
“I know, and I’d love to, my love. But commuting is risky. You know how many eyes are watching me, us. We even told our friends you dumped me, right? We agreed to keep our relationship a secret for a while—”
“Hence, the disguise,” I pleaded. “I agreed to keep us under wraps. I’m fine with staying in for dates, but I also want to go out sometimes. I mean, we’ll be disguised. No one will suspect a thing. No one would expect that you would commute. Come on, Eleazar doesn’t commute. You’ve got private planes.”
He gave me a long look, sighing heavily. “Alright, fine. I’ll tell my bodyguards that they need to commute too. They’ll have to blend in like normal people. But you need to send me the route, the stops, everything. I want all the details, Latisha,” he said, his voice all business. For a second, it didn’t feel like I was talking to my boyfriend—but damn, that authoritative tone was hot.
“Okay!” I giggled, excited. “So, are we starting now?”
“Do I really need long hair for this?” tanong niya, pasuko na yata sa akin samantalang isang linggo pa lang naman kami.
“You signed up for this,” I reminded him. “I am now your girlfriend, so yes, my love, yes, because you’ve never had long hair, and with it, no one will recognize you. Trust me!”
“Okay,” parang napilitan na sabi niya. “I trust you.”
“What? No! Wala ka kayang energy. No na! I will stop na—” He pulled me before I could walk away, then he kissed me.
My stomach twisted—in a nice way.
“I love you, so go on, do what you want to do with me.”
I grinned. “Okay!”
“Where did you even learn this stuff?” he asked, shaking his head but cracking a smile. “Kay Owen ba?”
“Is this you admitting you’re jealous of Owen?”
“Not Owen. Siguro kay Jhules ako magseselos, kung magseselos man,” pag-amin niya na hindi ko inaasahan kaya sandali akong napatigil sa ginagawa ko sa buhok niya.
“Do you want me to stay away from Jhules?”
“No, of course not.” Umiling siya saka hinawakan ang kamay ko. “I know how important Jhules is to you and I would never take that away but I am just informing you na kay Jhules nga ako magseselos, kung magseselos man ako.”
“Okay, pagseselosin kita kapag naasar ako sa’yo, like duh, especially kapag nakikipagbugbugan na naman kayo ni River,” sambit ko saka pinagpatuloy na ang pag-aayos sa buhok niya para mailagay ko ang wig.
He raised both of his hands, showing defeat. “Please, don’t. Masasapak ko si Jhules.”
“Okay, punch each other, then.”
Hunter pouted. “I love you.”
“I know. I know.” I gave him a smack.
I haven’t told him those words yet, not because I don’t love him, but because I want to wait until I’m sure that what I feel in my chest is deeper than just liking him.
