"Do you need anything beforeI head out for the weekend? I know you're capable of taking care of yourself, but as a mother I will make sure you are taken care of first." My brother beamed, fluffing her already permed hair. She had been seeing some guy, Jax, for a good couple of months. Although I haven't met him, she's been smiling more.. So watever thes got going to keep her that way. I don't care.
"I don't know, are you sure warts on my vagina are normal?" I deadpanned, logging into my account on the TV.
My mom gasped surrounding the couch. "Danielle Nicole Wiseman, you better be fucking joking with me!" Her hands reached for my shorts and I howled with laughter hitting her with a pillow.
My jaw dropped, "Oh? are we using government names now? That's a little shallow Marianne--"
My mom hit me in the bicep with her purse. "Answer me."
"Fucking-A mom, yes I'm joking!" I laughed.
"Language. For as long as it took you to reply to me, I don't believe you. Now, lemme see..." I screeched and parkoured myself over the couch into the kitchen.
"Nope, I'm good mom, thanks. I was actually pretty fucking exhausted, but now-"
"Language." My mom hissed following me. I rolled my eyes.
"I'm in my mid twenties mom, I don't think that's no longer a good fight for you anymore." I grinned.
"Mid twenties but you are still my child, no matter how old you get." Her lips left a kiss on my forehead. She pinched my chin between her fingers, meeting her eyes. "That man treating you well?"
My face flushed, and I nodded, my lips thinning and my heart rate spiking at the thought of Blake. The way his eyes get brighter when he sees me, can't keep a hand off of me, intimately, and or causally. Between the groundbreaking amazing sex, the texting and phone calls have made up for getting to know one another. On top of that, the date was a few days ago. The flowers Blake had gotten me sit in the middle of the coffee table in a vase, giving the room more brightness than it had.
"The longer it takes for you to give me an answer, the more I'm gonna get worried. Spit it out, Danny. Get out of the fantasy." Mom clipped, snapping her fingers. A smile tugged on her deep red stained lips, playing along.
"Yeah, mom. We are. He's actually rooming with his brother for a bit before he gets his own apartment."
"That bitch of his ex kicked him out?" My mothers eye brown rose on her face. I shook my head, snorting at her comment.
"She is...something, I will say that." I chuckled. "He decided to leave. He even paid for the rest of the rent for their lease so she doesn't have to worry about it."
"Hm. That's some man. A respectable one. Trying to make it a mutual thing."
"I know..."My stomach was in knots. I wanted to ask... "I have a question that could use your opinion though."
My mother leaned on the counter, waiting for the next words.
"I think ... .I think she hits him. A lot" I whispered. It felt even wrong to say it out loud, but I wasn't sure who was the right person to talk to about this.
"Danielle, that is not a funny assumption to make." My mom warned.
"No, it's not an assumption. I'm sure it's happening. I mean when she was brought up into contact, his body language would change, and he would look nervous to even talk about her. According to a co worker of mine - Jake - when he would come home, Blake and his ex would be arguing from their living room, Jake could hear shit breaking, cries of, 'stop it you're hurting me' and-"
