Evening

The day slipped by faster than Taehyung anticipated. With the Jeons away, the house seemed quieter than usual-except for the relentless presence of Jungkook, who took every opportunity to remind Taehyung that they had the house to themselves. Despite his best efforts to avoid more teasing, Taehyung found himself dragged into a few more playful moments, each one leaving him a little more flustered than the last.

As the evening rolled around, the sky outside shifted to shades of pink and orange, casting a warm glow over the Jeons' spacious living room. Taehyung stood by the large window, watching the sun dip below the horizon, trying to focus on the calmness of the scene rather than the way his mind kept wandering back to Jungkook's earlier antics.

He let out a small sigh, folding his arms across his chest. The events of the day had left his heart feeling unsteady, like he was walking a tightrope between frustration and... something else, something he wasn't quite ready to name yet.

"You look like you're deep in thought, beautiful."

Taehyung nearly jumped at the sound of Jungkook's voice behind him. He turned to see Jungkook leaning against the doorway, arms crossed and a familiar, teasing smirk playing on his lips.

"I wasn't," Taehyung replied quickly, a little too defensively. He turned back to the window, hoping the blush creeping up his neck wasn't too obvious. "I was just... enjoying the view."

Jungkook's smirk only grew as he stepped closer, stopping just behind Taehyung. "Oh, I am too," he said, his voice dropping to a low murmur. Taehyung could feel the warmth of Jungkook's breath on the back of his neck, sending an unbidden shiver down his spine. "But I think my view's a little better."

Taehyung swallowed, trying to ignore the way his heart skipped a beat at the closeness. "You're not going to let up, are you?" he muttered, his voice betraying the faintest hint of nervousness.

Jungkook chuckled softly, taking a step closer until there was barely any space between them. "Why would I? I told you, I like seeing all your reactions," he said, his tone playful yet sincere. "And you've got a lot of cute ones, you know."

Taehyung rolled his eyes, though he couldn't quite hide the small, flustered smile that tugged at the corners of his lips. "You're ridiculous," he muttered, but there was no real bite in his words.

Jungkook didn't seem bothered by the comment. Instead, he moved to stand beside Taehyung, casually leaning against the window ledge. The setting sun cast a warm glow over his features, highlighting the mischievous glint in his eyes. "So, what do you want to do tonight?" he asked, his tone light but laced with something more suggestive. "Since we've got the place all to ourselves."

Taehyung shot him a skeptical look, raising an eyebrow. "And why do I feel like you already have something in mind?"

Jungkook shrugged, his smile turning a little more innocent, though his eyes told a different story. "Well, I could think of a few things. But first... I think we should make dinner. Or, you know, I could order in if you're not up for it."

Taehyung considered the offer, grateful for the slight change in subject. "Cooking might be nice," he admitted. "It could... keep things quiet for a while."

Jungkook's chuckle told Taehyung that he wasn't going to get his wish for long, but he nodded in agreement. "Alright, let's see what we've got in the kitchen, then."

---

The two of them moved to the kitchen, where Jungkook made a show of opening every cabinet and drawer, searching for ingredients while Taehyung leaned against the counter, trying to regain some sense of normalcy. They eventually settled on making a simple pasta dish, something easy enough that even Jungkook's playful distractions couldn't mess up.

For a while, the kitchen was filled with the sounds of sizzling garlic and clinking utensils, mixed with the occasional banter. Taehyung found himself relaxing despite everything, even laughing when Jungkook nearly spilled the entire jar of pasta sauce.

But true to form, Jungkook couldn't resist throwing in a few teases, leaning in close every now and then under the guise of needing to grab a spice or stir the sauce. Each time, Taehyung's cheeks would flush, but he'd try to brush it off, focusing on the task at hand.

By the time they sat down to eat, the sky outside had faded into deep blue, the stars just beginning to peek through. They ate at the large dining table, the atmosphere surprisingly cozy, though Taehyung was acutely aware of the occasional glances Jungkook shot his way.

As dinner wound down, Jungkook got up and grabbed a bowl of fresh strawberries, a familiar twinkle in his eyes. He plucked one and held it up to Taehyung with a mischievous grin. "How about another challenge?" he suggested, holding the strawberry between his fingers. "Unless you're too scared?"

But before Jungkook could even bring the strawberry closer, Taehyung's eyes widened, and he abruptly stood up. "Oh! I just remembered-I, uh, left something upstairs!" he stammered, backing away from the table.

Jungkook raised an eyebrow, clearly amused by the sudden panic in Taehyung's voice. "Left something upstairs, huh?" he echoed, a teasing lilt in his tone. "You sure it's not just an excuse to escape me, Tae?"

Taehyung avoided his gaze, his cheeks flushed pink. "No, I really did! I'll be right back!" And with that, he turned and bolted out of the dining room, heading straight for the stairs.

Jungkook watched him go, a laugh rumbling in his chest as he leaned back in his chair, holding the strawberry between his teeth. "Run all you want, Taehyung," he called out after him, loud enough for his voice to echo through the hall. "But I'll catch you eventually."

He smirked to himself, savoring the thrill of the chase, and took a slow bite of the strawberry. He had a feeling that Taehyung wouldn't stay hidden for long-and when he came back down, the teasing would be far from over.
