After Jungkook's cheeky announcement about Taehyung staying for three days, Taehyung's mind spun with a mix of panic and disbelief. He couldn't believe Jungkook had told his parents such a bold-faced lie, and now he was trapped in the Jeon house for three whole days!
As soon as Jungkook turned his back and headed into the living room, Taehyung's mind went into overdrive. He had to get out of this situation before things spiraled even further out of control. Sure, a part of him felt warm and fuzzy about spending more time with Jungkook, but three days? Alone with him? That was too much for his poor, fluttering heart to handle.
Taehyung quickly slipped back up the stairs, his movements careful and quiet. He figured he could grab his things, make up an excuse, and head back home before anyone noticed. Maybe he could say he had a sudden work emergency at Kim Corp, or maybe a family matter had come up-anything to avoid being stuck here, subject to more of Jungkook's relentless teasing.
He made his way to the guest room where his bag was kept, mentally rehearsing his exit strategy. But just as he reached for the handle of his duffel bag, a voice startled him.
"Going somewhere, Tae?"
Taehyung nearly jumped out of his skin, spinning around to find Jungkook leaning casually against the doorframe, arms crossed over his chest and a knowing smirk on his lips. His dark eyes twinkled with amusement, and he cocked his head slightly, as if he had caught Taehyung red-handed.
"Uh-I... well, I thought... maybe it would be better if I-" Taehyung stammered, trying to come up with a plausible explanation, but the words wouldn't come out right. His cheeks flushed as Jungkook pushed off the doorframe and stepped into the room, closing the door behind him with a soft click.
Jungkook's smirk widened, a mischievous glint in his eyes. He took a step closer, his presence overwhelming as he casually closed the distance between them. "Leaving without saying goodbye, Tae? That doesn't sound like you."
Taehyung instinctively took a step back, but Jungkook followed, closing the distance effortlessly. Taehyung's back hit the wall with a soft thud, and he realized too late that he'd cornered himself. Jungkook leaned in, his face just inches from Taehyung's, his smirk shifting into a playful grin.
"Why are you in such a rush, huh?" Jungkook's voice dropped to a teasing murmur, his breath brushing against Taehyung's cheek. "Are you that eager to get away from me? Or maybe..." He tilted his head, studying Taehyung's flustered expression. "Maybe you're afraid of what might happen if you stay?"
Taehyung swallowed hard, his cheeks burning under the intensity of Jungkook's gaze. "I-I just thought... I left something at home," he lied unconvincingly, trying to keep his voice steady. His heart pounded in his chest as he struggled to maintain his composure, but Jungkook's proximity made it nearly impossible to think straight.
"Oh, really?" Jungkook's smirk grew as he reached out, gently tracing a finger along Taehyung's jawline. "And what exactly did you leave, hmm? Because from where I'm standing, it looks like everything you need is right here."
Taehyung's breath hitched, his pulse quickening at the soft, teasing touch. He tried to push past Jungkook's arm, but the latter easily blocked his escape, leaning even closer until their noses nearly brushed. The space between them seemed to shrink with each passing second, leaving Taehyung nowhere to hide from the way Jungkook's dark eyes bore into his.
"You're-" Taehyung struggled to find his words, feeling his cheeks burn hotter. "You're too close!"
Jungkook chuckled softly, the sound sending a shiver down Taehyung's spine. "Am I making you nervous, beautiful?" he teased, his voice a low rumble. "You know, if you wanted some space, you could have just asked nicely."
Taehyung's mind went blank, caught between the urge to push Jungkook away and the strange, fluttery warmth that spread through his chest at the teasing tone. His hands came up to press lightly against Jungkook's chest, but he didn't put any real effort into pushing him back.
"I wasn't trying to run away," Taehyung mumbled, his voice barely above a whisper as he tried to maintain some semblance of dignity. "I just... thought I'd forgotten something. That's all."
Jungkook's grin only widened at the obvious fib, and he leaned in even closer, his lips brushing against Taehyung's ear as he whispered, "Nice try, Tae. But you're not going anywhere. You promised my parents, remember?"
Taehyung shivered at the warmth of Jungkook's breath against his skin, his entire body tensing as he fought to keep his composure. "You're impossible," he muttered, his voice coming out softer than he intended.
"And you're adorable when you're flustered," Jungkook replied, his tone holding a hint of genuine affection that made Taehyung's cheeks burn even more. He pulled back just enough to meet Taehyung's gaze, his expression softening as he studied the way Taehyung's blush deepened. "Come on, Tae. Don't try to run away from me, okay? I promise I'll make it worth your while."
Taehyung opened his mouth to argue, but the words died on his lips when he saw the sincerity in Jungkook's eyes. He felt his resolve waver, the fight draining out of him as he realized that maybe-just maybe-he didn't want to leave after all. Not when Jungkook was looking at him like that, with a mixture of mischief and something deeper, something that made Taehyung's heart flutter in his chest.
With a resigned sigh, Taehyung finally nodded, a small, reluctant smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Fine. I'll stay," he mumbled, averting his gaze in an attempt to hide his blush. "But only because you're being so... persistent."
Jungkook's grin widened in triumph, and he reached out to ruffle Taehyung's already messy hair, earning an indignant huff from the latter. "That's my beautiful Tae," he teased, stepping back and letting Taehyung breathe. "Now, why don't we go downstairs and grab that snack I promised you? And maybe I'll even go easy on the teasing. Maybe."
Taehyung rolled his eyes, but the warmth in his chest made it hard to hold back his smile. "You're incorrigible, Jeon Jungkook," he muttered, but he couldn't quite hide the fondness in his voice as he followed Jungkook out of the room.
As they walked back downstairs together, Taehyung couldn't help but wonder if maybe staying for three days wouldn't be so bad after all-even if Jungkook's idea of "going easy" on the teasing was questionable at best.
