~Lyla's POV~

"Is this the miserable claw club?"

"Shut up, Maximoff." Dad and I grumbled.

"Oh, you have definitely looked better." Ororo teased and I rubbed my temples. "Migraines?"

"More like all the tests Hank put me and Jean through in the past eight hours. I haven't slept a wink." I said as Scott walked in. "Why are you in your suit?"

"Gambit, Rogue and I went back because those idiots don't know when to quit." He sighed and stood behind me to rub my temples. "Someone please turn on the news before I crash on the kitchen table."

"The protesters last night were brave enough to take a stand, and though they were met with great resistance from these... mutants... their message was clear. Mutants are not like us, and we can't afford to ignore the threat they represent any longer!"

"Oh, fuck you!" Jean and I yelled in unison and threw grapes at the TV.

"We're here joined by Professor Charles Xavier, leader of these so called X-Men and a vocal mutant rights activist... Professor Xavier, what are your thoughts on last night's events?"

I slouched back in my chair, crossing my arms as the entire room fell quiet.

"My thoughts?" Charles asked and sighed. "What happened last night was a tragedy. My X-Men did not attack anyone... We were all trying to enjoy a quiet night to celebrate our sweet Ravager and her art when it all happened."

"Ravager? Isn't she the one with the claws?" The reporter asked and I narrowed my eyes. "How could she be so sweet when we all saw what she's capable of and-"

"She's more than that. Our Ravager is a kind and gentle soul who has suffered a lot." He defended. "The Sentinel attacked both human and mutants and my children did their best to diminish the situation before it escalated and someone got hurt...The protesters' anger, while understandable, should not have led to violence. We must strive for understanding, not violence."

"He's being too diplomatic." Scott hummed and I nodded.

"But Professor... how can you justify the level of violence and destruction caused by your team? How long are we supposed to tolerate this danger in our midst?"

"My X-Men have always worked to protect humanity, even when they don't understand us. We do not seek conflict, but simply coexistence. We will not stand by while innocent lives are in danger, human and mutants alike... The Sentinels were designed to kill mutants, but they endangered everyone last night. If my team hadn't acted when they did, innocent lives would've been lost."
