The stars were beautiful tonight, scattered like diamonds across the vast blackness of space. You leaned back in your seat on the castle ship's observation deck, watching the twinkling lights outside the window as you tried to make sense of everything that had happened. It was still surreal—being part of Voltron, flying through space, fighting against the Galra Empire. It felt like a dream, and yet, here you were.

You heard footsteps approaching and glanced over to see Pidge, a tablet in her hand, looking lost in thought. She hadn't noticed you yet, her brow furrowed as she muttered something under her breath, no doubt working through another technical problem.

You smiled to yourself, admiring how brilliant she was—her sharp mind, her determination. There was something magnetic about her, something that pulled you closer to her every day. You admired her from the beginning, but now, after countless battles and shared moments, your feelings for her had deepened. You just weren't sure how to tell her.

Before you could overthink it, you cleared your throat softly. "Hey, Pidge."

Pidge jumped slightly, clearly startled, before turning in your direction. Her eyes widened for a split second in surprise before she relaxed. "Oh, hey! I didn't see you there." She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and smiled, walking over to sit beside you. "What are you doing up here?"

"Just needed some quiet time to think," you replied, motioning to the stars outside. "Space is kind of overwhelming when you really stop and look at it."

Pidge glanced at the window, her expression softening as she gazed at the stars. "Yeah, it's... massive. And we're just tiny specs floating around in it."

You chuckled at the simplicity of her words, even though you knew how much deeper her thoughts ran. "That's one way to put it."

She glanced at you, curiosity in her eyes. "What's on your mind? You look like you've got something heavy weighing on you."

You hesitated. This was your chance to say something, to finally tell her how you felt. But even now, with the perfect opportunity laid out in front of you, the words caught in your throat. "It's nothing, really. Just... thinking about everything that's happened. Being part of Voltron, fighting the Galra. It's a lot to take in."

Pidge nodded slowly, her gaze shifting back to the stars. "Yeah, I get that. It feels like we've been doing this forever, even though it's only been a few months. But hey, we're still here. We're still fighting."

"Because of you," you said, before you could stop yourself.

Pidge looked at you, blinking in surprise. "What do you mean?"

You shifted in your seat, trying to find the right words. "I mean... you're amazing, Pidge. You've done so much for the team. We wouldn't be here without you. And... well, I wouldn't be here without you."

Her cheeks flushed slightly, and she looked down at her lap, fiddling with the edge of her tablet. "I don't know about that," she mumbled, clearly embarrassed by the compliment.

You smiled softly. "It's true. You're brilliant, and brave, and... you've been a huge part of why I've been able to keep going."

There was a brief silence between you, the hum of the castle ship's systems filling the air. Pidge seemed to be processing your words, her expression a mix of surprise and thoughtfulness. Then, finally, she spoke, her voice quieter than before.

"I didn't know you felt that way," she admitted, glancing at you out of the corner of her eye. "I mean... I know we're friends, but I guess I didn't realize how much I meant to you."

Your heart pounded in your chest as you realized this was your moment—your chance to be honest. "You mean a lot to me, Pidge. More than just as a friend."

Pidge's eyes widened slightly, her breath catching. She looked at you fully now, her expression unreadable as she absorbed what you had just said.

You swallowed nervously, your hands fidgeting in your lap. "I guess what I'm trying to say is... I really like you, Pidge. And I know you've got a lot on your plate with everything going on, but I wanted to be honest with you. You don't have to say anything. I just—"

Before you could finish, Pidge reached out and grabbed your hand, her touch gentle but firm. "You don't have to explain," she said softly, her green eyes locking onto yours. "I... like you too."

You blinked, your breath hitching in surprise. "Wait, you do?"

Pidge blushed, her grip tightening slightly on your hand. "Yeah. I guess I didn't really think about it much at first because, you know, I've been so focused on finding my family and everything with Voltron. But... I started noticing it more and more. I like being around you. You make everything... easier."

Your heart swelled at her words, a wave of warmth spreading through your chest. You squeezed her hand gently, a smile tugging at your lips. "I'm glad to hear that, because I really like being around you too."

Pidge smiled back, and for a moment, the tension between you seemed to fade, replaced by a quiet understanding. The two of you sat there in silence for a while, watching the stars, your hands still intertwined. It felt... right. Like everything had fallen into place.

After a while, Pidge leaned her head on your shoulder, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm not really good at this, you know. Relationships and stuff. But I want to figure it out. With you."

You smiled, resting your head lightly against hers. "We'll figure it out together. No rush."

And in that quiet moment, with the stars stretching endlessly before you and Pidge by your side, you felt like everything was exactly as it should be.
