You had always known you were different. Growing up, it wasn't hard to tell that your connection to the Galra was more than just a heritage. As Keith's sister, you shared the human side with him, but the Galra side? That was something uniquely yours. It was the side of you that embraced the challenge of combat, the thrill of a hunt, and perhaps most amusingly, the art of getting under people's skin — particularly, Pidge's skin.
From the moment you arrived aboard the Castle of Lions, your eyes had been drawn to the small, brilliant Paladin. Where the others were more obvious in their strengths, Pidge was subtle, her mind always racing, her intelligence a weapon sharper than any blade. And something about her unshakeable focus made her even more appealing.
Flirting with her had started as a game — light teasing, a casual compliment, a lingering glance here and there — but it had quickly become something you couldn't stop thinking about. Despite your Galra instincts and your comfort with teasing others, you found yourself drawn to her in a way that felt different from the playful banter you shared with the others.
And now, standing in the Castle's control room, you were trying — and failing — to keep your focus on the current mission briefing. Pidge stood nearby, working diligently at a console, her brow furrowed in concentration, completely unaware of how much your attention had drifted to her instead of the screens in front of you.
Keith, who was going over battle formations with the others, glanced at you and noticed the smirk tugging at your lips. "Are you even listening?" he asked, clearly annoyed.
You blinked, snapping back to reality. "Hmm? Oh, yeah, of course, battle plans and all that." You waved a hand dismissively, but your eyes flickered back to Pidge almost instantly.
Keith rolled his eyes. "You're unbelievable sometimes."
You shot him a grin. "What can I say? Not everyone can be as serious as you, big brother."
Keith shook his head but didn't push it. He knew better than anyone that once you had your mind set on something, there was no stopping you. And right now, your mind was very much set on Pidge.
The briefing continued, but your focus was elsewhere. Once it ended, everyone began dispersing to prepare for the upcoming mission. Pidge, always efficient, was already on her way back to the tech lab. You saw your chance and followed her, your footsteps light as you caught up with her in the hallway.
"Pidge," you called out, your voice smooth as you quickened your pace to fall into step beside her. "Got a minute?"
She glanced up, adjusting her glasses as she looked at you with a mix of curiosity and mild exasperation. "Do I have a choice?"
You chuckled, enjoying the challenge she presented. "Not really." You leaned in slightly, your voice dropping into a lower, more playful tone. "You're always so focused, Pidge. It's kind of impressive. But doesn't all that thinking ever wear you out?"
Pidge gave you a look, her lips pressed into a thin line as if trying to decide whether to humor you or ignore you altogether. "I'm used to it. Besides, someone has to keep everything from falling apart around here."
"You're right," you replied, a grin pulling at your lips. "Without you, we'd all be lost. Though, it must be tiring being the brains of the whole operation."
Pidge shot you a quick look, trying to decipher whether you were genuinely complimenting her or just messing around. "What do you want, exactly?" she asked, her voice laced with suspicion but also curiosity.
You leaned against the wall, crossing your arms casually, your gaze never leaving her. "Who says I want something? Maybe I just enjoy spending time with the most brilliant mind on this ship."
