Rating: TeenThe sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm golden glow over the castle as you stepped out onto the balcony. The vastness of space stretched out before you, stars beginning to twinkle in the deepening twilight. Tonight was special — a date with Pidge, the brilliant, quirky Paladin of the Green Lion.
You had been looking forward to this all week, your heart fluttering at the thought of spending time together away from missions and the pressures of being a Paladin. You had planned something simple but meaningful, hoping to share a quiet moment with her under the stars.
You leaned against the railing, feeling the cool breeze brush against your skin as you waited. You checked your watch, a nervous habit you had developed. The door behind you slid open, and you turned to see Pidge stepping out, looking slightly more composed than usual.
"Hey!" she called out, her voice bright and excited. "Sorry I'm late. I was finishing up some calculations for the next mission."
"No worries," you replied, smiling at her as she approached. "I know how dedicated you are to your work. You're just like the Green Lion — always ready to tackle whatever comes next."
Pidge chuckled, a hint of a blush creeping across her cheeks. "I guess it's part of the package. But I promise, I'm all yours tonight. No missions, no Galra tech. Just us."
Your heart swelled at her words. "Good, because I have a surprise for you."
She tilted her head, eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Oh? You're really going all out, huh?"
"Just a little," you said, trying to play it cool. "Follow me."
You led her through the winding hallways of the Castle of Lions until you reached the observation deck, a favorite spot of yours. You had set up a small picnic, complete with a blanket spread out on the floor and a variety of snacks you had scavenged from the kitchen.
"Wow, this is amazing!" Pidge exclaimed, eyes wide with delight as she took in the setup. "You went all out! Is that... chocolate-covered space fruit?"
"Only the best for you," you replied with a grin, pulling out a container filled with the delicacy. "I thought we could enjoy some snacks and watch the stars. There's a meteor shower tonight."
"Okay, you've officially won date night," Pidge said, her voice filled with excitement as she plopped down onto the blanket. "This is way better than I expected!"
You joined her on the blanket, settling in beside her. "I wanted to create a little escape for us. It's nice to get away from everything sometimes."
"Especially with the impending doom of the Galra looming over us," she added, rolling her eyes playfully. "But this is perfect."
You both reached for the container of chocolate-covered space fruit, laughter filling the air as you shared bites. You stole glances at her, admiring how her hair glimmered in the starlight and how her eyes sparkled with joy.
"So, what's your favorite constellation?" you asked, eager to keep the conversation flowing.
Pidge pointed up at the sky, her finger tracing the outlines of the stars. "That one over there — it's called the Lione. It represents courage and strength. I love how it reminds me of our team."
You followed her gaze, nodding appreciatively. "That's a great choice. I see it. What about you?"
She turned her gaze to you, a thoughtful expression on her face. "I think my favorite is the Aran — it represents intelligence and creativity. It feels fitting for me, don't you think?"
You smiled warmly at her. "Definitely. You're one of the smartest people I know, and your creativity never ceases to amaze me."
Pidge blushed at the compliment, her eyes dropping to the blanket. "Thanks. I try. But honestly, I wouldn't be where I am without the support of my friends. You included."
You felt your heart swell. "You've always had a way of making people feel important, Katie. You're truly one of a kind."
The moment lingered, and you could feel the chemistry between you growing stronger. Pidge looked up at you, her expression shifting from playful to serious. "I'm really glad we're doing this. I've always wanted to spend time with you outside of missions. You mean a lot to me."
You leaned in slightly, your heart racing. "You mean a lot to me too. I've had a crush on you for a while now."
Pidge's cheeks turned a deep shade of pink, and her eyes widened in surprise. "Really? I thought I was the only one!"
You laughed softly, your nervousness melting away. "Yeah, I guess we've both been a little slow on the uptake."
Pidge smiled shyly, biting her lip. "Well, I'm glad we finally got here."
The moment felt charged with emotion, the air thick with unspoken words. You hesitated for just a moment, searching her eyes for any sign of hesitation. When you found none, you leaned in, capturing her lips in a gentle, sweet kiss.
Pidge melted against you, returning the kiss with a softness that made your heart race. It felt like the world around you disappeared, leaving just the two of you suspended in a moment of bliss.
When you finally pulled away, both of you were breathless, your foreheads resting against one another. "Wow," she whispered, her voice a mix of awe and amusement. "I didn't see that coming."
"Me neither," you admitted, your heart still racing. "But it felt right."
"It really did." Pidge smiled, her eyes shining under the starlight. "So, what do we do now?"
"Well," you said, leaning back on the blanket, pulling her with you. "How about we make a wish on the meteors tonight?"
Pidge grinned, her excitement palpable. "That's a great idea! Let's make it a good one."
As the first meteor streaked across the sky, you both closed your eyes, making silent wishes. When you opened them again, you turned to Pidge, your heart full of hope and anticipation.
"I wish for more nights like this," you said softly.
"Me too," she replied, her gaze locked onto yours. "And maybe more kisses."
"Definitely more kisses," you said with a laugh, pulling her in for another one.
The two of you spent the rest of the night nestled together, sharing stories, laughter, and dreams, both of you knowing that this was just the beginning of something beautiful. Under the vastness of the cosmos, you felt a sense of peace, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead — together.
