***SKIPS AHEAD ROUGHLY FIVE MONTHS***

She shifted around in her hammock. Glory was doubtful about whether or not she should tell Deathbringer that she was expecting his eggs. For the most part, she was terrified and excited. She was going to be a parent. A parent. What would her dragonets look like? RainWing abilities, NightWing appearance? She felt a buzz of excitement. Maybe they would have NightWing powers! That would be awesome. But according to Moon, NightWing dragonets only gain powers if they hatch under one or more full moons.

She hadn't told anyone yet. Not her friends, not any of the healers, not Deathbringer. What would her friends think about this?

That's a good thing, she reminded herself, although she was still shell-shocked by the realization. The kingdom will have heirs now, hopefully. But should I tell Deathbringer ... ?

She'd started noticing signs that she'd been expecting eggs, then subtly read about it, and now Glory was sure that she was about to have dragonets.

"I have to tell him, don't I?" She muttered into her hammock. It was suntime, and a few of the NightWings, including Deathbringer, were more than happy to stay on guard. His gaze wasn't fixed on her, but gazing out at the undergrowth, searching for potential threats.

Quietly, she slithered out of her hammock and went over to him. He turned around.

"Yes, Your Majesty?" He said, giving her his signature smug grin, which made her even more nervous. She glanced around, but luckily there weren't many dragons around. Good. She didn't want to announce it to everybody yet.

"Deathbringer ..." Glory murmured nervously. Deathbringer was studying her expression. "We're ... we're having eggs."

The expression of shock, disbelief and joy on his face was priceless. He seemed unable to speak for at least two minutes.

"I can't believe it!' He finally burst out, his face glowing with delight. Deathbringer's eyes were sparkling. He smiled widely. "I've always wanted dragonets."

"Really?" Glory said, a smile also appearing on her face. "I never knew that."

"This is going to be great!" Deathbringer said, laughing. He looked lovingly at Glory. "I love you."

"Sappy idiot," Glory said in an amused way. But she was terrified, too, by the possibility of dragonets. She'd never imagined herself having dragonets. Not even when Grandeur and Starchaser had said she should have them so the kingdom would have heirs.

"No, Grandeur, I said I'm NOT having any dragonets anytime soon," Glory said, lashing her tail.

The old RainWing tilted her head and looked patient. "Your Majesty, a kingdom without heirs is always in danger, and if anything were to happen to you, the RainWings and NightWings would all be left without a leader." Glory threw back her head in frustration. She really didn't want dragonets to worry about!

"I know you don't want to have dragonets, Your Majesty," Starchaser added, her large wings shimmering in the evening light. "But you need to for the good of the tribe."

"Ugh," Glory said. "It's not just that. I don't want to have to marry someone or anything. I already have enough things to worry about."

She had caught the flirtatious, smug look that Deathbringer gave her, but she ignored him.

Glory grinned, and then she warmly entwined her tail with his. Life was perfect, at least for the time being. She had Deathbringer, she had the kingdom to support her, and now, she had dragonets to look forward to.

She sighed with happiness and curled up next to Deathbringer as she tried to fall asleep.
