That might have been the most terrifying thing I have EVER, EVER done, Glory thought as she flew, which was saying something. She had almost died in the volcano. But standing on that unfamiliar Pavilion, with only Deathbringer at her side, with the whole NightWing tribe in front of her, gazing up at her suspiciously, it sure had been scary.
"Good job," Deathbringer said, dodging a large vine. "I wouldn't have been able to stop myself from attacking Fierceteeth."
"Heh," Glory said. Somewhere behind them, Fierceteeth was currently being dragged by a couple of guards, shrieking and fighting. And all her followers as well. That was good news. She didn't want to have to deal with a hostile tribe on their border anymore. She noticed a big, familiar tree up ahead. "There's the Pavilion."
They landed to find their dragonets chasing each other around. But as they touched down Amber, Firefly and Fern all stopped with squeaks of excitement.
"Mommy! Daddy! How did it go?" Amber asked with little hops of joy. "Did you win the fight?"
"Yes, the NightWings are on our side again," Glory answered with a smile, sitting down. Her dragonets were as adorable as ever. Amber bounced up to her and lay down cutely on top of Glory's talons.
"Cool!" Fern said. "What happened to the bad NightWing queen? Fier-something."
"Fierceteeth!" Firefly exclaimed proudly, with an elated smile. "I remember Uncle Jambu telling me about her."
"Fierceteeth is going to prison," Deathbringer explained in a patient way. "All the other bad NightWings are, too, so don't worry." Firefly grinned. Glory kept on thinking about how Firefly had eyes incredibly like her mother's, except blue-ish.
(TIME SKIP A FEW MONTHS)
Things were finally back to normal. NightWings and RainWings living in harmony, in the rainforest full of fruit and sunshine. In fact, there were several new hybrid dragonets in the rainforest. One of them was Shiningtail, a dragonet with silvery wings and splashes of colour all over his dark-blue body and face. And, in a stroke of luck, he hatched under one moon. Giving him the gift of prophecy.
Glory sighed and leaned back against the small, cute wooden seat that was her throne. Jewels and extravagant decorations weren't really her style. She was thinking about sending one of her dragonets to Jade Mountain. They were almost a year old and would be in good talons at the Academy. Firefly and Fern had already said multiple times that they wanted to go. Deathbringer put one wing around her.
"It'll be good for them, sending them to the Academy," he said, in a rather unconvincing voice. "They need to learn about the other tribes. And I'm sure Sunny would love to teach them."
Glory was sure that he didn't want them to go. Deathbringer was overprotective, and she knew that better than anyone. He didn't particularly want to talk about it, but he lost his mother, whose name was Quickstrike, while on a mission in the Kingdom of the Sea. He didn't give many details.
Firefly walked up to them. "So, are we going? Are we going?"
"I want to go!" Fern cried.
"You can all go," Glory replied with a swish of her tail.
"But I don't want to go!" Amber complained. Glory turned to her, curious. Why didn't Amber want to go to Jade Mountain Academy? Amber went on sadly, "I want to stay here and learn how to be a good queen. They don't teach that at Jade Mountain."
Deathbringer smiled. "You can stay here with us, then. But you can go whenever you like," he said warmly, patting her head. Amber squealed with joy and her face lit up with a grin.
"Yay!" She said happily, bouncing around.
Glory smiled down at all three of them. Her perfect dragonets. And one of them a dragon who was interested in becoming a good queen. She sighed happily as she leaned against Deathbringer, who wrapped his wings around her tightly and twined his tail around hers lovingly.
