Deathbringer faced the RainWing queen defiantly, although he secretly felt uncomfortable. He felt as though he had some connection to her. But he couldn't remember a thing about Glory, other than the fact that he was her bodyguard long ago. Anyways, now he was loyal to Fierceteeth. Glory had tried to kill them all. So why did Deathbringer feel as though he still needed to protect Glory?
Glory stared at him, seeming stunned and frozen. Deathbringer glared at her, while Fierceteeth smiled smugly.
"Hello there, Glory," Fierceteeth said, studying her claws idly.
Glory didn't seem to hear her. The RainWing took a tentative step towards Deathbringer.
"Deathbringer?" She asked, tilting her head slightly. "What are you doing here?" Her voice quivered a bit. Deathbringer didn't respond. He was too puzzled. Why did Glory act as though he was supposed to be on her side? He was always loyal to Fierceteeth, wasn't he?
"He's my new bodyguard," Fierceteeth explained, smiling unpleasantly. Glory didn't seem to believe her. "I decided that as queen, I need some protection."
"Deathbringer, what are you doing here?" Glory repeated, looking him in the eye.
It was as though his mouth was moving on its own when he replied, "Guarding my queen, obviously." Inside, he felt strange and hollow, devoid of emotion.
"Your queen? I'm your queen!" Glory said, clearly terrified. But why was she so scared and shocked? Deathbringer frowned. What does she want from me? "What has happened to you?" Glory glared at Fierceteeth accusingly and then shifted her gaze back to Deathbringer. Deathbringer tried not to attack her.
Fierceteeth raised her eyebrows and said airily, "Nothing has happened to him. Deathbringer is loyal to his tribe, as always." Deathbringer nodded in agreement.
Glory stared at him, looking stricken, and then walked away with her little squad of guards. Before she turned away, Starchaser gave him a concerned look.
