Over the next few days, they successfully managed to get hold of Nebula, Sharpstrike and Silentsnout, son of the librarian. Deathbringer and Glory occasionally tried questioning them, but no one would mutter a word in response.
It doesn't matter, Deathbringer thought, determined. We're going to take down Fierceteeth anyways.
Currently, they were waiting for Fatecarver or Bloodwatcher to find themselves alone. They would try taking on the both of them, but the two NightWings seemed to be fitter than the rest and likely good fighters. And most of all, he didn't want Glory to get hurt.
After an hour of waiting, Bloodwatcher finally wandered away from the crowd, and they managed to capture her and contain her in the prison along with the other few NightWings. Deathbringer tried to count how many more dragons they had to capture.
We have Bloodwatcher, Cunning, Nebula, Sharpstrike and Silentsnout. We're still missing Silvermind, Fatecarver and Jewelhunter, as well as the old librarian, although he hardly counts, being so old and frail.
Suddenly, the ferns rustled behind them. Deathbringer whirled around, talons up, ready to deflect a strike, but he found that it was just Starchaser. She dipped her head respectfully, calmly, in her usual, formal manner.
"I've come to see if I could help," Starchaser said, concealing herself behind a tree. "Is that alright?"
"Yes," Glory said. "Maybe we could try getting Fatecarver, Jewelhunter and Silvermind at the same time. They're friends, after all, and all their other friends are already being held in the secret temporary prison." Deathbringer and Starchaser nodded. "We're better fighters than most of them."
They crept around silently until they finally spotted the trio. Jewelhunter and Silvermind both looked roughly eight years old. Fatecarver was slightly older, but scrawnier than Deathbringer or Starchaser.
"When they're alone together, I'll go for Silvermind," Deathbringer whispered. "Glory, you can go for Jewelhunter. Starchaser, you can take on Fatecarver." Glory and Starchaser nodded, and Starchaser shifted to camouflage herself better among the ferns.
It was a long wait. A little more than one hour. But patience was a vital skill for an assassin. Deathbringer's mother, Quickstrike, used to remind him of that all the time. Patience was the key to every assassination. Surprisingly, Glory and Starchaser also managed to not get agitated by the waiting. At last, the three treasonous NightWings were alone in a small clearing, silently sharing some fruit.
"Three ..." Glory whispered. "Two ... one!"
They burst out of their hiding spot and each pounced on a NightWing. Starchaser seemed quite competent, pinning Fatecarver down and clamping his snout shut. Deathbringer did the same, while Glory wrestled Jewelhunter to the ground and made sure she couldn't scream for help.
"Good job," Deathbringer said to the others. Now we just have to transport them to the prison. He elegantly immobilized a thrashing Silvermind and turned to Starchaser and Glory. "Come on, let's go."
After the three new NightWings had been locked up, they decided to call Granduer and discuss exactly what they should do.
"So, how are we going to reveal that Glory is alive?" Deathbringer asked, his gaze sweeping over the assembled dragons. "Any ideas?"
"We should do it at some big meeting," Starchaser suggested.
"Good idea. That way everyone can hear the news immediately," Glory commented, looking thoughtful. "What do you two think?" She asked, looking at Deathbringer and Granduer, who haven't shared their thoughts yet.
"I think it's a good idea," Granduer said slowly. "Ideally a meeting where Fierceteeth is present."
"Yes," Deathbringer said, smiling at Glory. "You'll be back on the throne in no time
