Chapter 8. Maze

* Arabella's POV *

Me and Star have been playing for hours now. All the queens have alternated checking up on us except for Queen Katherine. Everyone is saying that she's just having something be built. I wonder what it is.

It's night time now and it's raining outside. Soon after thunder starts. I'm not scared of it. I go to the window to look at the thunder when it randomly shoots the castle. That scares me. My eyes widen and I shake my head to realize I was scared out of headspace.

"What the fuck is going on?" Why am I in a playroom right now? Was I not in my right mind?  Everything starts flooding back to me. Queen Katherine picking me up? Having that guard chase me?

Star looks at me worried. She got herself out of headspace when she saw I was upset. "Bella it's okay. Calm down."

"No. No! What was I just doing?!" All the queens rush in. "I'm sorry I just. I have to go bye." I run out the room.

I rush to my room. I'm mad. So mad. Why would I let myself get treated like that. I walk into my room and flop into my bed. I want to scream so I turn my head into my pillow and yell like I'm being chased by a madman.

I move so my body is facing one of the nightstands. I remember that I brought my phone with me. I grab it and I'm bombarded with an essay of messages from all my friends. One in particular catching my eye. The most recent one.

Hey Arabella! Your mom told us you got a job at the castle which is literally the coolest thing ever girl. Me and a bunch of our other girls are going to a pop up corn maze. You wanna join?

I sigh. Today was a lot but it did stop raining and it's still early it just got dark early. You only live once I guess.

I text her back.

Sure. I'll join send me the info.

She sends me a link to a corn maze and tells me she'll send me a taxi.

I got in the shower this morning I should be fine. I grab my suitcase which I still haven't unpacked and pick out a black tank top that almost completely shows my entire chest and booty shorts. Not the most modest outfit but I'm going to a corn maze and I haven't been outside this castle in weeks.

I put my clothes on, put on deodorant, and walk to the bathroom. I need to quickly straighten my hair. I do that and go to my vanity to put on some makeup. It's simple makeup. I put everything I need into my small bag and as I'm about to walk out the door I freeze. Queen Katherine or anyone for that matter might come looking for me.

I write a note on my mirror with lipstick and finally leave my room. Walking down the castle halls I can hear the taxi my friend got for me outside. I make it to the castle doors and walk towards the taxi. The taxi driver unlocks the door for me and we drive off.

I'm on my phone the entirety of the ride there. I can't stop thinking about what happened. I was in ugh. I can't even say it. It feels like fire in my mouth. Just stop thinking about it have fun Arabella.

We make it to the corn maze and my friend Elsa is waiting for me outside of the big gate entrance. I step out and run over to her. "Hi Arabella!" She smiles widely at me. Being with her feels like a breath of fresh air. "Hi Elsa! How have you been?"

"Amazing as usual. But it's been so boring without you. Why'd you ghost?"

"I honestly completely forgot I had my phone with me. These last couple of weeks have been..interesting to say the least. I'm just so glad you invited me to this thing."

Elsa nods eagerly. "Of course! I invited you to all our friend events by the way. This was just the first time you've answered. But that doesn't matter let's go have fun everyone else is getting food."

"Our whole friend group isn't here just Kelly, Amy, and Allen." I nod and groan internally. I've been told by multiple people that Allen kinda has a thing for me. But it's fine just act normal.

We walk up to our friends and they explode into a group hug. Everyone screams my name and I smile wildly. It's been to long since I've felt this free. "Hey guys!"

"Hi baby! We've missed you!" Amy is the first person to speak. She looks so different. Her hair is shorter but she is still so much taller than me.

Though I'm five six everyone is taller than me. Which is embarrassing but I'll just disregard that.
"Hey there. I know it's been to long. Hey Kelly." I wave at Allen.

"Bella you have got to tell us all about your training!" I nod at Kelly and point towards the maze. "Can we go in now?" Allen nods and responds.

"Yes love. Let's go." I don't like him calling me pet names but I've been babied for weeks and this feels better than that. He grabs my hand and we run into the corn maze. We step in and get jump scared by a man in a mask. I scream like a baby.

"Oh right I forgot to tell you Bella!" Elsa chuckles. "This maze has scare actors." I barely hear her. The actor has his face right in front of mines and then runs away. Allen puts his arm around my waist and we keep walking.

As we're trying to find our way around the maze we get scared multiple times. Each time Allen grabs me to protect me. And it makes me feel nice and safe? Whatever.

We can tell we're almost there when a actor jumps out and huddles me into a corner. I screech at cover my face. The actor grabs my hand and slides a piece of paper into it. He's about to say something when Allen screams.

"Can you get off of her now?" The scare actors turns to him and runs off." Allen grabs my hand and leads everyone out the maze. It's one in the morning now. I tell everyone I'm tired and Allen offers to drive me to his place until it's bright out again.

Normally I would decline but he's been so nice today. But just one thing before we go. "Can we get a little drunk first?" Both of the girls agree excited and we run towards the bar inside the corn maze. This place is so confusing.

We sit down and order nine shots. Three for each of us. "Y'all." Kelly and Elsa look towards me. "Wanna race?"

"You're on!" They both say at the both time.

We play the race and after 30 minutes all three of us are totally wasted. Me the most. Obviously Allen didn't have anything because he's driving me to his house. Kelly and Elsa say their goodbyes and call a two stop taxi.

I try to order another drink but Allen stops me. "No Bella. You've had ten drinks. Let's go." He pats his leg to signal me to follow him. I try to get down from the stool but my legs are completely asleep and the alcohol is basically the only thing keeping me awake.

"Here let me help you." Allen picks me up bridal style. I giggle as he carries me out the gates and to his car. He lays me onto the back seat. The drive to his house is long and quiet. Expect he lightly plays my favorite playlist on the radio.

We make it to his house. "Hey Bella. Can you do something for me?" I look at him confused. "Let me." He picks me up and carries me into his house. We make it through his house and into his bedroom. He lays me on the bed and starts getting touchy?

"Wait no I don't want this!" He doesn't listen. "Allen!" He pins me to the bed.

"God Arabella. Grow up." He pushes all his body weight onto me to get himself off the bed. "Leave my house in the morning if you're not willing to do anything."

I try to get up but I can't. I want Queen
Katherine.
