Sophie's POVWhen I woke up fully, Ryan was gone.
At first, I thought he had just stepped out, maybe to get some air or talk to the doctors, but as the hours passed and there was no sign of him, the truth began to sink in. He wasn't coming back.
It hurt more than I could have imagined. After everything we had been through, he had just... left. No explanation, no goodbye. I wanted to be angry, but all I felt was empty. Numb.
Caleb was the one who stayed by my side after that. He was there through the recovery, always checking in on me, bringing food, making sure I wasn't alone. I appreciated it, but part of me knew he felt guilty—guilty that Ryan had left me behind to deal with the aftermath of everything that had happened. But he didn't need to feel guilty. This was Ryan's choice. His decision to leave me behind.
One good thing came out of it, though. Caleb started spending more time with my best friend, Ella. She had been by my side through everything, too, and I guess somewhere along the way, the two of them clicked. It was subtle at first—just little smiles, shared glances—but soon enough, they were inseparable.
I was happy for them. They deserved each other, and maybe, in some way, it helped me heal, too.
