Sophie's POV

When I opened my eyes, everything was blurry. The harsh, sterile lights of the hospital room stung my eyes, and my body felt heavy, weighed down by the dull ache in my side. But through the haze, I saw him—Ryan, sitting beside me, his hand gently holding mine.

He looked exhausted, dark circles under his eyes, but when he saw me stir, his face lit up with relief.

"Sophie," he whispered, squeezing my hand.

I tried to smile, but it hurt too much. "Hey..."

"You scared me," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "I thought I lost you."

I squeezed his hand back, feeling the warmth of his skin against mine. "I'm still here."

And for now, that was enough.
