Sophie's POV

Ryan held me like he was afraid to let go, as if by some miracle, being close to him would keep the danger at bay. But I knew better now. The bruises on my arm were proof that Luca's threats were real. My heart pounded in my chest, fear and anger mixing together in a haze of emotion.

"I can't let this happen to you," Ryan murmured, pulling away just enough to look me in the eyes. "I should have never dragged you into this."

"You didn't drag me into anything," I whispered back, my voice steady. "I chose this. I chose you."

Ryan's gaze softened, and for a moment, the walls he'd built around himself seemed to crumble. But it wasn't enough to erase the danger we were in.

"We can't stay here," Ryan said, his jaw tightening. "Luca won't stop. He's already sending his guys after you. We have to disappear—just for a little while, until I figure out how to handle him."

"Disappear?" I echoed, my mind racing. "How? Where would we go?"

"I know a place," he said quickly. "Outside the city, where no one would think to look for us. But it has to be tonight."

The idea of running away with Ryan both thrilled and terrified me. It was reckless, impulsive, but there was a part of me that trusted him completely. I knew he'd protect me no matter what.

"Okay," I agreed, surprising even myself. "Let's go."
