Ryan's POV
I stayed away, just like I had promised myself I would. But that didn't mean I wasn't watching.
I kept tabs on her, even though I knew I shouldn't. I watched from afar as she healed, as she laughed with Caleb and Emma, as she slowly rebuilt her life without me. She was strong, stronger than I had ever given her credit for, and seeing her move on without me broke something inside of me.
But this was how it had to be. Sophie deserved a life without danger, without fear. And as much as I wanted to be a part of that life, I knew I couldn't be. My world was too dark, too dangerous.
So I stayed in the shadows, watching her from a distance, knowing that I would never be a part of her life again.
