Ryan's POVI was losing control. Sophie was in danger because of me, and I couldn't stand it. The moment she told me about the attack, I knew we had to move faster. Luca was making good on his threats, and if we didn't stop him, he would come for Sophie again—and next time, it could be worse.
When I arrived at her apartment, Sophie was pale and shaken. Seeing the fear in her eyes made my blood boil. I wrapped my arms around her, holding her tight.
"I'm sorry," I whispered, my voice rough. "I'm so sorry."
She clung to me, her body trembling. "What are we going to do, Ryan? I can't live like this."
I pulled back, looking at her.
If only she knew how much I loved her, if only she knew how much I hate myself for dragging her into this mess.
