Rimuru blinks in disbelief as soon as he heard unexpected information coming out from his son's mouth.

He knew Zarell is smart and he told himself nothing of what he does would surprise him, but he proved himself wrong that very moment.

Cause when he was sure he knew everything in their world, thanks to Raphael and his friends, his smart son dropped a bomb like news like this.

The young man was snacking, after telling some foreign information, unaware of his father's dilema. But when he looked up and saw Rimuru starring into space, he frowned.

"Papa, anything on your mind?" the prince questions and that brought the Tempest ruler back to reality.

"Ah! Sorry son. Was just in awe of your extensive knowledge."

Zarell frowns even more.

"Papa, it's common knowledge, though."

"Is it now? Haha, This just shows there are things I needed to study yet," the emperor rubbed the back of his head sheepishly but then remembered something.

If what his son said is true, then...

Oh no..

"Buddy, you said these guardian fairies of new born babies judges the parents worth. If they are not worth it, the baby is taken away from them?"

"Yes papa. I heard a few cases about it. One nobleman hated his newborn baby cause his wife died giving birth. One of the guardian fairies took the baby away from the nobleman and passed verdict."

Rimuru was even more surprised now. So these guardian fairies do this too? Although he must admit, he kind of agrees with this one.

However, one question lingered on his mind.

"So, where do the guardian fairies take the baby if the parents are unworthy?"

"They take them to more deserving families off course. However, if that child is with magical attributes, the fairies will take them to dimensions that will hone their skills. There are special cases though, if parents with magical abilities have the same affinity with the rescued baby, the fairies will have them raise the baby as long as they consented."

Rimuru nods.

"That makes sense. They are guardians after all. Still though, why haven't they  approached me and Maevah? We are very much willing to raise a rescued baby that is for sure. Or our subjects can do that too. There are a lot of capable parents in Tempest," he voiced out his confusion.

"Answer: Master is feared by the guardian fairies. With your magical attributes and the fact that you are a demon king, it contrast with the guardian faries who are light wielders," Raphael answers and Rimuru felt dejected.

"Right. There's that. Wait, do you know of this too Raphael?"

"Yes. But only after you have established a soul corridor with Zarell."
