"Woohoo! This reminds of the Grand Magic Games!" Natsu chides excitedly the moment they entered Tempest's Colloseum.
"Right, although we won't be fighting in this tournament, it's still exciting to watch the battle segment for the upcoming festival!" Lucy agrees looking around.
After Rimuru adjourned the meeting a little earlier to prepare for Zeref's arrival, the king himself had taken the wizards inside of the colloseum. Upon knowing that Noir had made the final decision for the annual festival to commence, he made a last minute decision and used magic to do a little renovation.
Now, his colloseum is much more bigger than when it was first built, adding 20,000 seating capacities. It may sound absurd but nothing at this point would surprise the Tempestians on Rimuru's on the spot decision making.
"It's a shame though. Rimuru just banned us from joining this battle," Gray's voice held a little bit of complaint leading the emperor to chuckle.
"What's this complain I am hearing? If you were to join, you'd finish everything in one hit. Besides, the theme for this year's battle segment is for the growth of the underdogs."
"Then you should have included atleast another segment for the likes of us," Natsu still insists.
"No can do," Rimuru quickly denies. "From the reports I have heard from the Grand Magic Games at Fiore, you guys are the epitome of walking catastrophe so no. Natsu, you destroyed the whole arena and there's another year when you melted it with the intensity of your fire!"
"Hah?! It's not my fault they can't handle my dragon slayer techiniques!" Natsu retorts back.
"No one can handle your dragon slayer techniques!"
Rimuru sighs.
Why are dragons so troublesome? First there is his buddy, Veldora. Then comes his prideful sisters who thinks they can beat anyone to a pulp. Well, not that Veldora is any better but at least his friend listens to him.
Then enters this fire dragon slayer. When Raphael told him her full research on Natsu, he almost fainted. Grasping his real strength, Rimuru promised himself to always keep him in check.
Could he fight Veldora's sisters and win?
They are true dragons but Natsu has both dragon powers and dragon slayer magic at the same time. And like he had confirmed, this Alvarez prince gets even stronger when facing opponents like himself.
Better not think of that scenario.
"How about me?" Wendy asked in her soft voice, expression full of curiosity. "I am not on par with Natsu-san's level yet. So can I join the battle segment?"
Ehhh?
And here he thought this adorable young girl would understand. But she actually wanted to fight? Even the wizards seemed sirprised. They were not expecting that either, huh?
"Raphael-san-"
"Negative. Wendy is the sky dragon slayer and a high enchantress. Her aura alone would be enough to make her opponent of an underdog to forfeit before the match would even start. She may look like a cute harmless girl but the fact that she is a high enchanter makes her a catastrophe level opponent."
Rimuru looks down defeated.
"I expected that."
"Rimuru-san?"
"Ah!" The king snaps of his stupor and smiled gently at the sky dragon slayer. "I am sorry Wendy but you have to sit this one out too. You are too much of an opponent for an underdog. Remember that even Veldora is wary of you."
