Gathering his executives at his office just after his announcement at the pavilion, Rimuru took a moment to let everything settle in.
The happy and excited expressions they have shown earlier was replaced by gloom and glum. He knew they were indeed happy for him and Maevah, but now that it's laid on the table of what they knew is the greatest consequence of having a child, for the likes of them at least, worries and fear took over.
"Since no one of you are saying anything, I'll be straightforward about it. With my baby on the way, my powers will deplete and I will weaken. In a few years, I would die. Is that about right?" The ruler didn't beat around the bush and got straight to the point.
This caused a commotion as all eyes are now on him. The ladies gasped while the others felt even more fear.
How could he casually just say it as if this isn't a very serious matter? He's even nonchalant about it.
"Rimuru-sama-!"
The slime raised his hand the moment they tried to deny, some to complain.
"I know all of it. I can feel your worries and your fear. This is why I gathered you here to tell you, none of what you are afraid of is going to happen. This baby is our pride and joy so how can it bring these kind of consequences?"
"Rimuru-sama, this is a big deal. I know every parent would say that but-"
Rimuru smiles cutting Rigurd off. They were taken aback on how bright it was, and it no doubt melted their worries away.
"We are not just speaking hypothetically in here, Rigurd. I mean it. Tell me, have I ever broken a promise to any of you?"
Silence...
"No, right? Well, take this promise too. I'm not going anywhere."
Everyone's still tense and rigid and no one spoke in fear that they might say the wrong thing out of worry.
All except one.
Noir.
He suddenly slammed his hands on the table making them flinch.
"Rimuru-sama is asking us to trust him. We have seen him fulfill every promise before, so why doubt him now? If he says he's fine then he is indeed," the high prince scolded and that shook the rest of their fear and doubt.
He is absolutely right. Their emperor never broke a promise and never will. They quite felt ashamed but Rimuru smiled at them warmly.
"Rest assured everyone, this will not take us away from you guys. I told you before, unless absolutely necessary, we are staying right here and not leave."
"Forgive us Rimuru-sama. We were just so worried, we overlooked the fact that you do things beyond anyone's imagination. Noir is right, and we trust you with everything we have," Benimaru chides with a smile, the worry looming over him completely gone.
Hakurou chuckles.
"This is embarrasing. For us to doubt Rimuru-sama's word is a complete foolish act on our part."
Rimuru waved his hand frantically.
"No, no! You were just worried and I understand completely. I wouldn't like to dismiss it just like that knowing all of you guys care for our well being. For that I am grateful. To have you guys as my friends and members of my big family. Let's continue supporting each other, yeah?"
The subordinates cheered promising to be by his side always.
The emperor felt deeply relieved. He is expecting quite a difficult discussion but in ended with all of them reaffirming the strength of their bond.
