Perci shifted on the couch, trying to find something to break the awkward silence. "Have you ever watched TV before?" she asked, trying to make casual conversation. Shadow glanced at her with mild confusion, not seeing the point of the question.

"TV? As in... that brain-numbing device?" he grumbled.

Perci rolled her eyes and turned on the Comedy Chimp show. "Lighten up, Shady. You might actually enjoy it."

Shadow folded his arms, already annoyed by the loud laugh track and ridiculous jokes. He shot Perci a look that said he was not amused, but she just smiled. After a few minutes of trying to tolerate it, Shadow reached over, grabbed the remote, and turned the TV off.

Perci huffed, "You didn't even give it a chance."

"I gave it five minutes," Shadow replied, laying back and closing his eyes, pretending to sleep.

Perci glanced at him, thinking he wasn't paying attention anymore. She bit her lip and whispered, "He's perfect... I love him."

Shadow's ears twitched at the words. His heart skipped a beat, but he kept his eyes closed. Did she really mean that? His mind raced as he thought about everything they'd been through recently. Could she truly see past his darkness and love him for who he was?

Unable to hold back, Shadow sat up, locking eyes with Perci. "Do you really mean that?" he asked, his voice low, almost vulnerable.

Perci blinked, startled that he'd heard her. "I—yeah... I do." Her voice was soft, but there was no doubt in her eyes.

For a moment, Shadow hesitated. He wasn't used to this—affection, vulnerability, the warmth that spread through his chest when she looked at him like that. Before he could stop himself, Shadow leaned in, closing the distance between them. He cupped her cheek gently, and without another word, pressed his lips to hers in a slow, tender kiss.

It was their first kiss, and it felt like time had stopped for both of them.

When they finally pulled away, Perci's cheeks were flushed, and Shadow stared at her, his intense gaze softened by the faintest hint of a smile.

"Yeah..." he muttered, more to himself than to her. "I guess I'm not that bad."

Perci chuckled, her heart racing. "No, you're not."

And for the first time in a long while, Shadow allowed himself to feel at peace, knowing that for now, they had this moment.
