Amy's voice echoed through Tails' workshop, her stern lecture in full swing. She had been going on for what felt like an eternity, explaining how words and actions could cause harm—especially to someone as sensitive as Perci. Sonic sat slumped in his chair, barely hanging on as his eyes drooped, dangerously close to dozing off.
"Words matter, Sonic!" Amy continued passionately, pacing back and forth in front of him. "You need to think before you speak! Perci's hurt because of you, and you don't seem to get it!"
Tails, meanwhile, was tinkering with a new gadget on the desk, barely paying attention to Amy's speech. His mind was focused on the technical specs, completely zoned out. Knuckles, on the other hand, sat on the floor with a crayon, drawing crude stick figures of himself punching Eggman. He snickered at his own terrible drawing, clearly not understanding the gravity of Amy's lecture. Sticks sat gnawing on some bark she had found outside, occasionally looking up like she might contribute to the conversation, but then going back to her snack.
Sonic, sitting cross-legged on the floor, was on the brink of sleep. His eyes were half-lidded, and his head bobbed dangerously close to nodding off completely. He was seconds away from losing the battle to sleep when the doors burst open with a loud bang.
Eggman stormed in, flanked by Orbot and Cubot, his mustache twitching in annoyance. "Sonic!" he bellowed, causing Sonic to jolt awake, nearly jumping to his feet. "You haven't fought me in days! What the hell, are you on vacation or something? I'm getting bored here!"
Sonic blinked, trying to shake off the sleep as Eggman launched his attack. Orbot and Cubot hurried to activate his latest batch of badniks, sending a wave of bee bots and crab bots straight toward the team.
"Not this shit again," Sonic groaned, rubbing his temples.
"Looks like it's your lucky day, Doc," Sonic muttered before launching into action. In a matter of minutes, Sonic had taken out most of the badniks, Knuckles smashed through the rest, and Tails had deployed his gadgets to neutralize the threat. Eggman, seeing his plan had failed, muttered something about being underappreciated before retreating with Orbot and Cubot.
Once the dust settled, Sonic stretched, cracking his knuckles. "Alright, that was fun and all. But now I'm taking Amy and Tails out for ice cream."
Amy shot him a surprised look. "Ice cream? Now?"
"Yeah, after all that nagging—I mean, talking—you've been doing, I think you deserve a treat," Sonic replied, grinning.
The trio headed to Meh Burger's ice cream stand, hoping for a quiet moment. But when they arrived, Sonic's eyes narrowed as they spotted two familiar figures. There, at a small table in the corner, sat Shadow and Perci. Shadow, ever the gentleman, was trying to make up for the awkward night before. He handed her a cup stacked high with scoops of her favorite ice cream—lavender, strawberry, and coconut. Perci was smiling, clearly touched by the effort.
Sonic's irritation flared immediately. "Oh, great, this again," he muttered under his breath. "Still spoiling her, huh, Shadow?"
As they got closer, Sonic's snark got the better of him. "Hey, Shadow, I see you're still trying to buy her love with all that fancy ice cream, huh?" he called out, arms crossed, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
Shadow glanced up, eyes narrowing. He wasn't in the mood for this. "Sonic, do yourself a favor and shut the hell up," he said coolly. "I'm not 'buying' her love. I'm making up for the bullshit you pulled yesterday."
Amy, sensing the tension rising, elbowed Sonic. "Sonic, don't start this again," she hissed. "Let it go!"
But Sonic wasn't backing down. "Oh, come on, Amy, look at this! He's doing it again, spoiling her with all this expensive crap. It's pathetic!"
Perci, who had been quietly enjoying her ice cream, shot Sonic a hurt look. "Why can't you just let us be happy, Sonic? Why do you care so much what Shadow does for me?"
Shadow's patience was at its breaking point. He stood up, stepping between Perci and Sonic, his eyes blazing with fury. "That's it, Sonic. I've had enough of your jealous crap. You have no idea what it means to actually care for someone. You're just pissed because you can't handle that she's happy with me."
Sonic's eyes widened in shock, but the rage quickly followed. "Oh, fuck you, Shadow! I'm not jealous. I'm just tired of you acting like you're better than everyone else!"
Shadow smirked, knowing exactly how to push Sonic's buttons. "I don't act like I'm better, Sonic. I am better."
That did it. Sonic lunged at Shadow, fists flying. But before he could even land a punch, Shadow sidestepped and let Sonic tumble into a nearby trash can, sending it crashing to the ground.
Amy groaned, covering her face in embarrassment while Tails just sighed, shaking his head. "Here we go again..."
Shadow didn't even bother looking at Sonic as he casually dusted off his hands. He turned back to Perci, his expression softening immediately. "You alright, Butterfly?" he asked, offering her his hand.
Perci smiled, taking it. "I'm fine. Thank you, Shady."
As they walked away together, Sonic struggled to climb out of the trash, grumbling angrily. Amy shot him a look that said I told you so, while Tails patted Sonic on the back. "Maybe next time, Sonic... maybe next time."
But Sonic, his pride wounded and covered in trash, just glared after Shadow and Perci, muttering under his breath. "This isn't over..."
