It was late in the evening, and the moon hung low in the sky, casting a silver glow over Sonic's shack. Inside, Sonic sat on the couch, sulking like a child who didn't get his way. His arms were crossed tightly, and his gaze was fixed on the floor, not paying attention to anything around him.
Amy, always the voice of reason, sighed as she paced in front of him. "Sonic, you really need to apologize. You can't just keep fighting Shadow every time you see him."
Sonic grumbled under his breath. "He started it..."
Amy stopped in her tracks, hands on her hips. "No, you started it by acting like a jealous idiot. If you don't apologize, you're just going to make things worse. And you know how you can be when you don't let things go."
Meanwhile, Sticks was sitting cross-legged on the floor, rambling on about her latest conspiracy theory. "I bet Shadow's house has secret tunnels. Yeah, tunnels that lead to Eggman's lair. He's probably got hidden weapons everywhere, too! I should totally check it out when we get there."
Amy shot her a warning look. "No, Sticks. We're going there to apologize, not to go through Shadow's things."
Tails and Knuckles were off to the side, deep in conversation about the latest Tommy Thunder movie.
"I can't wait to see the new Tommy Thunder! Did you see the trailer? He punches a shark out of a plane!" Knuckles said excitedly, making wild hand gestures as he mimicked the scene.
Tails nodded. "Yeah, it's gonna be awesome! I heard they have a new villain this time."
As the group continued their discussions, they slowly made their way up the path to Shadow and Perci's house. The small, cozy home had soft lights glowing from inside, and the peaceful atmosphere contrasted heavily with the tension Sonic felt gnawing at him.
Amy knocked on the door, and it swung open to reveal Perci, smiling warmly. "Hey, guys! What's up?"
Amy nudged Sonic, who looked like he was about to choke on his own pride. With an annoyed grunt, he stepped forward. "Uh... I guess I'm here to, you know... apologize. For earlier. I might've overreacted a little."
Perci tilted her head and smiled gently. "Thanks, Sonic. I appreciate that. It takes a lot to admit when you're wrong."
Before anyone could say more, Shadow appeared in the doorway behind her, clearly less than thrilled by the sudden visit. His red eyes narrowed at Sonic. "You're apologizing?"
Sonic crossed his arms, already feeling his temper flaring again. "Yeah. I said it, didn't I?"
Perci, ever the peacemaker, put a hand on Shadow's arm. "It's okay, Shady. Let's be nice. How about we all have dinner together?"
Shadow's eyes flicked to her in disbelief. "What? You're inviting them to stay?"
"Yes," Perci said firmly, giving him a look that made it clear it wasn't up for debate.
Sonic, catching on that this was pissing Shadow off, couldn't help but smirk. "Dinner sounds great, Perci. I mean, who can say no to free food?"
Shadow clenched his jaw, his patience wearing thin. "I'll make something. But don't push your luck, hedgehog."
As they all moved inside, Sonic made himself at home, making sure to sit at the head of the table while Shadow disappeared into the kitchen, grumbling under his breath.
Tails, Knuckles, and Amy sat down as well, chatting casually with Perci, who was happily showing them around the small dining area. Sticks, however, had a different agenda.
