The morning light filtered softly through the heavy crimson curtains, casting a warm, golden hue over the room. Naina stirred, the warmth of the bed unfamiliar.
For some goddamn reason, she found herself on a really hard pillow.
Not only was it really hard but it was sculpted like some chocolate bar.
Maybe someone by mistake had laid a pretty stone instead of a warm pillow.
As she slowly opened her eyes, she became aware of the steady rise and fall of Dhruv's chest beside her.
The sight of him, so calm and still in sleep, was jarring.
He looked different in the early morning light— a little not so arrogant.
After a few more moments of stillness, Dhruv stirred. His dark eyes blinked open, meeting hers almost immediately, as though he had sensed her gaze.
There was a moment of silence, heavy and thick, before he spoke, his voice rough from sleep but laced with amusement.
“Morning, Princess,” he murmured, a small, almost teasing smile tugging at his lips.
Did he have some teasing bank that autofilled itself?
Naina managed a nod despite all the anger she had at him , her throat tight. “Good morning,” she replied softly.
They dressed in silence, and soon they found themselves seated at the large breakfast table with his family. The mood was light, the conversation easy.
