The atmosphere at Inarizaki High was electric, the excitement of the upcoming match buzzing through the air. Atsumu Miya, the ever-charismatic and talented setter of the team, was trying to focus on practice. However, his mind kept drifting back to the moment he had shared with Yamamoto Sakura, the girl who had stolen his heart.

After their unexpected kiss in the gym, things had changed. The dynamic between them was different now, both thrilling and terrifying. Atsumu had never been the type to let his feelings show, but with Sakura, everything felt different. He was caught between wanting to pull her closer and fearing that his feelings might complicate their friendship.

A Conflicted Heart

As practice began, Atsumu threw himself into the drills, pushing the thoughts of Sakura aside—at least, he tried to. The sound of the volleyball echoing through the gym only reminded him of how much he missed her laughter and support.

"Oi, Miya!" his twin brother, Osamu, called out, snapping him out of his reverie. "You gonna keep daydreaming, or are you gonna focus on the game?"

Atsumu shot him a glare. "I'm focusing, alright? Just thinking about some things."

"Thinking about Sakura, huh?" Osamu teased, a knowing smirk spreading across his face.

"Shut up!" Atsumu exclaimed, his face heating up. "It's not like that."

"Sure, sure. Just remember, you're not the only one interested in her," Osamu added, a hint of seriousness creeping into his tone.

Atsumu's heart dropped. "What do you mean by that?"

Osamu shrugged, his expression shifting. "I've seen how some of the other guys look at her. Just don't take too long to figure out what you want, Atsumu. You don't want to miss your chance."

The words hung in the air, gnawing at Atsumu. He wasn't used to feeling vulnerable or uncertain. He knew he had to talk to Sakura soon, but every time he thought about it, a rush of anxiety flooded his mind.

An Unexpected Encounter

Later that day, as Atsumu left the gym, he spotted Sakura sitting on a bench outside, headphones in, immersed in a book. He paused for a moment, taking in the sight of her. Her brow was furrowed in concentration, and he felt a pull in his chest. He wanted to be the one to make her smile, to share in her joy.

Gathering his courage, he approached her. "Hey, Sakura," he called out, causing her to look up, surprise lighting up her face.

"Atsumu!" she exclaimed, pulling out her headphones. "Hey! I didn't see you there."

"Thought I'd find you here," he said, taking a seat next to her. "What are you reading?"

"Oh, it's just a romance novel. You know me," she replied, her cheeks flushing slightly. "I'm a sucker for those."

Atsumu chuckled, feeling a sense of comfort in their familiar banter. "So, what happens next? The girl finds her prince charming?"

"Something like that," she teased, nudging him playfully.

As they chatted, the tension in his chest eased slightly. But he knew he had to address what had happened between them. "Sakura, can we talk about... the other day?" he finally said, his heart racing.

Her expression shifted, a mixture of excitement and uncertainty flickering across her face. "Sure. What's on your mind?"

Facing the Truth

Atsumu took a deep breath, searching for the right words. "About the kiss. I didn't mean to spring that on you, but I've been thinking about it a lot. And about us."

"I've been thinking about it too," Sakura confessed, her voice soft but steady. "It caught me off guard, but I can't pretend it didn't mean something to me."

His heart raced at her admission. "So... what does that mean for us? I don't want to ruin what we have, but I can't ignore how I feel about you."

She smiled shyly, a hint of blush creeping onto her cheeks. "I don't want to ruin it either, but I also don't want to pretend I don't have feelings for you. I really like you, Atsumu."

A wave of relief washed over him. "Really? You like me?"

"Of course, I do! You're infuriating sometimes, but you're also funny and sweet," she replied, laughter bubbling in her voice.

Atsumu grinned, feeling lighter than he had in days. "So, what now? Do we just go for it?"

"I think we should take it slow," Sakura suggested, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "I want to explore this without rushing."

"Slow sounds good," he agreed, feeling a rush of warmth. "I'm glad we talked about it."

A New Beginning

As the sun began to set, painting the sky in vibrant colors, Atsumu felt a newfound sense of hope. The uncertainty that had plagued him for days seemed to lift. He was no longer caught in the crossfire of his emotions; instead, he felt liberated.

"I'll walk you home," he offered, standing up and extending his hand.

She took it, and together they walked, fingers intertwined, feeling the electricity between them. It was new and exhilarating—something that felt right.

As they strolled down the quiet streets, Atsumu couldn't help but sneak glances at Sakura. Her laughter, her kindness, the way she had always been there for him—everything about her made his heart race.

"Hey, Sakura," he said, breaking the comfortable silence. "Can I ask you something?"

"Of course! Ask away," she replied, looking up at him curiously.

"If I asked you out on a proper date, would you say yes?" he asked, his voice steady despite the butterflies swirling in his stomach.

She stopped walking, turning to face him, her eyes wide. "Are you serious?"

"Yeah, I am," he said, his heart pounding. "I think it'd be fun. Just you and me."

Sakura's face broke into a radiant smile. "I'd love that!"
