The sun was setting over Inarizaki High, casting a warm glow across the campus. Osamu Miya, the quieter but equally skilled twin of Atsumu, leaned against the wall outside the gym, watching as his brother walked away with Yamamoto Sakura. The sight brought a bittersweet smile to his face. He was genuinely happy for Atsumu, but there was a nagging feeling in the pit of his stomach—a feeling that he couldn't quite shake off.

Osamu had always been the supportive brother, but now he found himself grappling with emotions he didn't fully understand. He had developed a crush on Sakura, and seeing his brother take a step forward with her left him feeling conflicted.

The Weight of Unspoken Feelings

Osamu sighed, running a hand through his hair. The two of them had been friends for a long time, and Sakura had always been special to him. He admired her kindness, her determination, and the way she always managed to brighten his day with her smile. But he never acted on those feelings, always telling himself that he didn't want to ruin their friendship.

"Hey, Samu! You okay?" called out Kita, the captain of the team, as he approached.

"Yeah, I'm good," Osamu replied, forcing a smile. "Just thinking."

Kita raised an eyebrow, clearly not convinced. "Thinking about Sakura?"

"Maybe," Osamu admitted, crossing his arms. "I just... I don't want things to get awkward between us, you know?"

Kita nodded, a knowing look on his face. "It can be tough when feelings are involved, especially with friends. Have you talked to her about it?"

Osamu shook his head. "No. I mean, what if she doesn't feel the same way? I'd rather keep things as they are than risk losing her."

Kita's expression softened. "You won't know unless you try, Samu. Besides, holding onto feelings can be just as painful."

An Unexpected Reunion

Later that evening, as Osamu left the gym, he decided to take a walk to clear his mind. He wandered through the familiar streets, his thoughts consumed by Sakura. Just as he rounded a corner, he spotted her sitting on a bench, reading a book under a streetlight.

His heart skipped a beat. There she was, glowing in the soft light, completely engrossed in her story. He hesitated for a moment before approaching her, feeling both excited and nervous.

"Hey, Sakura," he called out, causing her to look up with surprise.

"Oh! Osamu! Hi!" she replied, her face lighting up with a smile. "What are you doing here?"

"Just taking a walk," he said, sitting down beside her. "What about you?"

"Just enjoying some quiet time," she said, closing her book. "How was practice?"

"Same old, same old. You know how it is," Osamu replied, forcing himself to relax. "I saw Atsumu with you earlier. You two seemed... close."

Sakura's expression turned shy as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Yeah, we talked. Things are... different now, I guess."

Osamu's chest tightened at her words. "Different how?"

"We kissed," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.

The confession hit him like a punch to the gut. He felt a wave of disappointment wash over him, but he quickly masked it with a smile. "That's great, Sakura! I'm really happy for you both."

Her eyes widened in surprise. "Really? You're not upset?"

"Why would I be upset?" he asked, trying to sound nonchalant. "Atsumu's my brother. If he's happy, then I'm happy."

But deep down, Osamu knew it wasn't that simple.

A Moment of Vulnerability

After a moment of silence, Sakura spoke up again. "But what about you, Osamu? You've been a bit distant lately. Is everything okay?"

Osamu hesitated, his heart racing. This was his chance to be honest, but the fear of losing her held him back. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just... busy with volleyball and stuff."

Sakura studied him for a moment, her gaze searching. "You know you can talk to me about anything, right? We're friends."

"Yeah, I know," he replied, feeling the weight of her concern. "I just... I don't want to complicate things."

"Complicate things how?" she asked, leaning in closer.

He took a deep breath, deciding to take the plunge. "I like you, Sakura. I've liked you for a while now. But I didn't want to ruin our friendship, especially now that you and Atsumu are... you know."

Her expression softened, and he saw a flicker of surprise in her eyes. "Osamu, I had no idea. I never wanted to make you feel like that."

"It's not your fault," he said quickly. "I should have said something sooner. I just didn't want to get in the way of you two."

Sakura's gaze turned serious. "You're not in the way. Just because I have feelings for Atsumu doesn't mean I don't care about you. You're important to me, Osamu."

Her words struck a chord within him. "Really?"

"Of course! You've always been there for me, and I appreciate that," she replied, her voice earnest. "I just didn't know how you felt."

A New Understanding

The tension in the air shifted, and Osamu felt a sense of relief wash over him. They had crossed a line, but it wasn't the end; it was a new beginning.

"So... what does this mean for us?" he asked, his heart pounding in his chest.

Sakura smiled softly. "I don't know. I care about you, Osamu. But I also want to see where things go with Atsumu. I don't want to hurt either of you."

"I understand," he replied, his voice steady. "I don't want to pressure you into anything. If you want to explore things with him, I'll support you. Just know that I'm here, too."

"Thank you," she said, relief evident in her voice. "That means a lot to me."

They sat in silence for a moment, both processing their feelings. Osamu felt a mixture of happiness and sadness—happy that he could be honest with Sakura but sad that she had feelings for his brother.

The Path Forward

"Let's not let this ruin our friendship, okay?" Sakura said, breaking the silence. "I value you too much for that."

"Agreed," Osamu replied, smiling. "I wouldn't want to lose you as a friend. You mean a lot to me."

As they continued to talk under the soft glow of the streetlight, Osamu felt a sense of peace settling over him. He realized that while his feelings for Sakura were strong, he valued their friendship even more.

"Whatever happens, let's just promise to communicate," he said, a newfound determination in his voice.

"Absolutely," she agreed, her eyes sparkling.

As they shared laughs and stories, Osamu felt a renewed sense of hope. Things might be complicated, but he was grateful to have Sakura in his life, no matter the nature of their relationship.
