It was Halloween night, and the Shiratorizawa volleyball team had something special planned. Instead of their usual practice, they'd decided to spend the evening at an old, abandoned mansion on the outskirts of town. Nao Taniguchi and Mio Hoshino, both longtime friends of the team, had joined the event, eager for a night filled with chills, laughs, and the spookiest atmosphere they could find.

The mansion loomed ahead of them, tall and eerie with vines crawling up its stone walls. The windows were dark, but faint, flickering lights could be seen through cracks in the boarded-up glass. Ginjima adjusted his flashlight nervously, while Semi smirked at him.

"Getting scared already, Ginjima?" Semi teased.

"Hardly," Ginjima scoffed, though his eyes kept darting back to the mansion.

Chapter 1: Entering the Mansion

Tendou was, as expected, the first to burst through the door, clearly delighted by the echo his footsteps made. "Welcome, mortals, to your doom!" he declared, sending a chilling laugh echoing down the halls.

Nao rolled her eyes but smiled. "You're really in the spirit, Tendou."

Mio glanced around, clutching her flashlight. "So, what's the plan? Are we actually ghost-hunting, or just scaring each other?"

Reon, always level-headed, stepped forward. "Let's stay together for now. This place might be a bit... unstable."

Chapter 2: Exploring the Haunted Halls

As they ventured further inside, the floorboards creaked under their feet, and a cold draft seemed to follow them. Ushijima led the group with his usual unshakable calmness, though even he had to admit the atmosphere was unsettling. The team wandered through rooms filled with dusty furniture, faded wallpaper, and old portraits whose eyes seemed to follow them.

Tendou suddenly stopped, staring at one of the portraits with exaggerated interest. "Look at this guy—doesn't he look like he's about to jump right out of the frame?"

Nao chuckled, though she kept a wary distance from the painting. "Please don't give it any ideas."

Chapter 3: The Basement Dare

Semi, grinning, suggested a challenge to liven things up: "Alright, who's brave enough to check out the basement?"

After a moment of hesitation, Goshiki—eager to prove himself—stepped forward. "I'll go!" he said with forced confidence, puffing his chest out.

With a smirk, Semi handed him the flashlight. "Good luck. Hope you don't meet any ghosts down there."

Nao and Mio exchanged glances before joining him. "We'll go with you," Mio said, trying to sound braver than she felt. The trio made their way down the creaky stairs, each step echoing in the silent darkness.

At the bottom, they found a small, cramped room filled with old, rusty tools and dusty crates. Suddenly, something clattered in the corner, and the flashlight flickered. Goshiki yelped, jumping back, while Nao stifled a laugh.

"It's probably just a rat," she said, though she was glad to head back upstairs.

Chapter 4: Ghost Stories in the Parlor

The group settled in the parlor for a break, arranging themselves around an ancient, dusty table. Tendou took it upon himself to tell ghost stories, his voice low and dramatic as he shared tales of haunted schools, ghostly apparitions, and shadows that watched you sleep.

Mio, leaning in with wide eyes, couldn't help but shiver at Tendou's detailed storytelling. "You're really good at this," she admitted.

Just as Tendou reached the climax of his story, a loud creak came from above them. Everyone froze, glancing up.

Semi narrowed his eyes, a smirk forming on his face. "Probably just the house settling... or maybe the ghost of the mansion owner is listening in."

Chapter 5: The Attic Mystery

Curious about the noise, Ushijima suggested they investigate the attic. The team hesitated but ultimately agreed. Together, they climbed the narrow staircase, the air growing colder as they neared the top. The attic was dark, lit only by the faint beams of their flashlights. Dust floated in the air, and an old chest sat ominously in the corner.

Tendou moved toward it, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "What do you think is inside? Treasures? Cursed relics?"

"Or just old junk," Reon pointed out, though he looked interested too.

They opened the chest, half expecting a skeleton to pop out, but all they found were a few tattered blankets and a cracked mirror. Nao, however, noticed something scratched into the wood of the chest.

"It says 'Beware the last midnight,'" she read aloud, feeling a shiver down her spine.

Semi chuckled. "Probably just someone's idea of a joke."

Chapter 6: The Final Scare

As midnight drew near, they decided to gather in the grand hall for one last scare. Tendou had snuck away to set up a surprise and came back looking suspiciously innocent. Just as they settled in, the lights flickered, and a loud moaning sound filled the hall.

Out of nowhere, a ghostly figure appeared at the top of the grand staircase, draped in a flowing white sheet and illuminated by a dim, eerie light. Goshiki let out a yelp, clutching onto Reon, while even Ushijima looked momentarily startled.

The figure moved slowly down the stairs, emitting a low, chilling wail.

Nao squinted, a smile forming on her face. "Tendou, is that you?"

The figure pulled off the sheet to reveal Tendou, grinning from ear to ear. "Did I get you?"

Semi rolled his eyes but laughed. "Nice try. That's the best scare of the night."

Chapter 7: Wrapping Up the Night

As they exited the haunted mansion, the team chatted excitedly about the scares and laughs they'd had. Nao and Mio laughed along, grateful for a Halloween night they'd never forget. Shiratorizawa might have a reputation for intensity and focus, but tonight they'd shown they could embrace a night of spooky fun just as well as anyone.
