Chapter 32: Satisfaction

After two days, Lian is already well and she was permitted to go out of the hospital. She got worried about the bill in the hospital but I told, "You have nothing to worry, me, Zac and my brother will be in charge of paying it!" "Thank you so much John!" Lian replied with joy.

Since Lian is already well, I decided to invite her to a walk in a park, just her and I.

"How well are you now?" I asked Lian as we were viewing the nearby mountain in the park.

She smirked looking at my toe, and replied, "I am not sure. But as long as you are here, I am already satisfied."

"You know what Lian. The world is so messy. I don't understand what it wants to say, to you, to us, to me. I don't know. But one thing is clear. I'll protect you as long as I live. I won't let you be in danger." While I was saying this to Lian, she got emotional. Tears started coming out of her eyes and she attentively listens to every word I say. Her eyes are so gorgeous.

I continued speaking, "I love you Lian, I love you so much. And those stars above, and the universe itself knows how much I love you." As I was saying this I was pointing to Lian all the stars that spark this moment. "I can't imagine how my life will be without you."

Then afterwards, Lian spoke up, while holding my cheeks while tears are also at her face. "But John. I might think that we are still uncertain."

"Uncertain for what?" I asked.

"I still doubt John. What if we weren't meant to be at all?" Lian said, showing her doubts. If we are meant to be, God will surely not make a thing that will separate us from one another.

"Don't you say that! Do not doubt. We love each other. And God knows how much I love you. No diamonds can be equal to you, my darling." Then Lian embraced me while I was holding at her arms, I was running my hands to her hair. She is so beautiful.

After about a week, we showed up to class. And they were all happy and cheering us because of our indeed, fighting relationship. I still really can't imagine if this is true or if I am dreaming. I ain't dreaming now!

Meanwhile, I also invited Lian to go with me to the church at Sunday. Then they were all happy. Zac, Cruz, Stephanie, Dave, all of them even the parish priest as well is so happy for us. He even told us, "Congratulations for your strong relationship. I hope it will endure. And always invoke the name of the Lord, and both of you will be successful in life."

"I promise Father. I'll protect Lian with all my strength, as how I love God, I'll love her the same way." I replied to our parish priest. I love what he just said. It made me inspire to take care of Lian.

In one week consumed, I think I kept spending time with Lian for about twenty times. I wanted to spend my whole time with her because this is only the way which I know will make her happy and me as well.

One day, I asked Lian if we can visit May in her grave. That was a sunny saturday and she agreed. She even said, "It is better to visit May to tell her about us. She might be happy now."

As we reached May's tomb, I lit a candle and brought flowers. "I wish you're happy now. And I hope you had already achieved the justice you were waiting for. It's so painful for my part to see you die in my sight. What a fool I am, for not protecting you. But I promise, I'll take care of your old friend. As how I loved you, the same way I will love her too."

I cried too, because it's been a long time I haven't seen her already. I miss the days that I was with her. Then Lian touched my shoulder to awaken my presence. "You're daydreaming again!"

"I just miss May."

"But you already have me. Think of me as May, I mean, another version of May."

"Do you think she is happy right now?" I asked.

Then Lian replied, "Maybe. But you know what, sometimes you have to move on, and forget the past."

"I'm sorry Lian. For I was thinking my life was miserable, since the tragedy that happened."

"Scarry right?"

"Yes super scary!" I chuckled.

There came a time, I invited Zac, Dave, Cruz, Joey, Stephanie and Bert to come with me and Lian on a picnic. I just wanted to enjoy with my friends as well. They might be thinking I am leaving them behind.

The place is very quiet and windy too. I started laying out the food, utensils and other things we brought. Meanwhile, Bert, Joey and Dave were already sitting at the bench waiting. On the other hand, Stephanie and Lian were just standing at a nearby tree, talking. Maybe they are talking about me because I can hear my name.

As everything are already prepared, we prayed first before enjoying the meal. Dave led the prayer. "Oh Lord! Bless our food and bless us all too. Your faithful servant!"

Afterwards, Stephanie took a photo of all foods that are in the table. And we started eating, and talking to one another to share about things that haven't these previous days. Bert, Joey and Dave are beside each other while Stephanie, me and Lian are together at one seat.

Then Dave asked, "What is your plan now Lian and John?"

We both smiled then I replied, "Maybe go to other countries, but we have to first finish our schoolings, to fulfill our dreams."

"That's good, that's good." Joey commented. And all of us enjoyed the meal we ate. We took a selfie as a memory of this greatful event.

I am just hoping now that as I have Lian now, I am not bothered anymore. I hope everything will be better. As time goes by, may it bestow me with such happiness I still haven't felt on the surface of this world.
