Chapter 32: Satisfaction

Two days have passed, Lian got well. She continued to recover, and regain her strength. I saw in her eyes how she wanted to be well, continue what we have started.  The doctors, permitted Lian to go out of the hospital. The bill? Thanks to Zac, Cruz, Joey, and my brother. All what we can give, to pay the exact amount we gave, for the sake of Lian's survival.

She got worried, putting in mind about the bill in the hospital, when she was assisted to sit in the wheelchair. I patted her shoulder, and told her, "You have nothing to worry. Zac and my brother, and all of us here will be in charge of paying it!"

"Thank you so much John!" Lian replied with joy, almost about to cry. She didn't know at that moment what reaction will escape her. Tears of joy? Tears of happy ending? Tears of fear? Not so. She will be happy, with me endlessly.

I tried to ask Joey, standing at the door of the front seat of a car in a carpark, a night before Lian was told to be ready to depart from the hospital, "Why did you pay too much?" All he answered was, "For love to endure."

Since Lian is already well, I decided to invite her to a walk in a park at night, just her and I. I prefer night because the night gives a flow of peace I never encounter in day. Something really is unique with the night.

"How well are you now?" I asked, as we were viewing the nearby Neoclassical fountain within the park, sitting in a vacant bench, situated in the grass, facing the cobblestone pavement, tracing to the center of the park, where you can view the sculpture of a nude woman sitting, covering her chest through a cloak. "I'm very okay. The way you met me before, is here again." Lian replied, throwing a me a deep smile, she'd always give me whenever she wanted to compliment me, or give me a hint, regarding me as the her refuge in times of trouble.

The gazes will never be forgotten, especially, the day we first met. If we can go back, maybe we'll just say to ourselves, "I wanna be stuck in the past forever with you."

"Do you already have plans after you fully heal?" I asked.

She eyed me, with a simple smirk, then dropped her sight, looking at my toe. "I am not sure. But as long as you are here, I am already satisfied."

"You know what Lian." I said, holding both her hand, flattened to the bench. "The world is so messy. I don't understand what it wants to say. To you. To us. To me. I don't know. But one thing is clear. I'll protect you as long as I live. I won't let you be in danger."

While I was saying this to Lian, she got emotional. Tears started coming out of her eyes and she attentively listens to every word I say. Her eyes are so gorgeous.

I continued speaking, "I love you Lian, I love you so much. And those stars above, and the universe itself knows how much I love you." I pointed to Lian, one by one, most of the stars visible, sparking that moment. "I can't imagine how my life will be without you."

Then afterwards, Lian spoke up, while holding my cheek, watery tears reaching her face. "But John. I might think that we are still uncertain."

"Uncertain for what?" I frowned.

"I still doubt. What if we weren't meant to be at all?" Lian said, exposing her doubts. If we are meant to be, God will surely not make a thing that will separate us from one another. "What if I might say, 'I'm in love, with the uncertainty?'"

"Don't you say that! Do not doubt. We love each other. And God knows how much I love you. No diamonds can be equal to you, my darling." I said, which made Lian embrace me. I was running my hands to her hair. She is so beautiful.
