Chapter 7: Ruined Flashback
This is the dark incident!
Before all of those, when me and May were just new as grade 10 students, we've met a new friend, not actually friend but just our new classmate. She was Rose Ann, a transferee in our section. We can describe her as a quiet and shy type person but there was something strange on her that we couldn't explain. No one is minding her, not even Zac or any of my friends. Rose Ann asked for our names. So I first introduced myself, "I am John and she's May, my girlfriend." Then she asked, "Can we be friends?" She added that she doesn't have peers from her past school, as if she was a stranger in her former class batch. Rose Ann was infront of me and May in the classroom table arrangement.
"That's a sad story of yours." I said with a sad tone in my voice. We saw how Rose Ann became glad when we accepted her in our life, like that was her first time to experience happiness.
At first, we saw Rose Ann as kind. Me and May always invites her to join us everytime we'll walk by. One time, I remembered that May needed to buy stickers for her project to be submitted tomorrow. It was 7:30 PM that moment of Monday so I decided to join her going to the mall and she said to me, "Let's join Rose Ann!" I understood she wanted Rose Ann to come because I saw that she even wanted to know more about her.
When we were at the mall, I kept talking to May and she kept laughing to all funny words I utter, but at that case, Rose Ann doesn't participate with our talks nor shows any laughter in jokes we're making. I noticed it, she's quiet, isolated from us.
"Look's like Rose Ann has a problem." I said to May as she threw a look to her. Rose Ann was very quiet, her eyes covered with portions of her bangs, covering the upper part of her face.
"Are you okay?" I asked, walking near Rose Ann. We stopped in the elevator area while she didn't throw me a gaze. And May was at my back, also worried if Rose Ann had problematic issues that time. That moment, we were walking to find the book store but it ended when we prioritized Rose Ann's condition.
"Yes I'm fine." Rose Ann replied palely, from her answer I concluded she looked being despised by the world. Before going home, we stayed in a food court in the mall after May successfully bought the stickers she needed. It was about 8:15 in the evening and the three of us took a photo in May's phone as a memory we could treasure. Rose Ann didn't smile at all. Seems that she's dealing with a personal problem we probably must not intervene, so we gave our best to make her happy that moment.
By the morning of June 15, it was a bad Tuesday as I knew the news that my bestfriend, Kharl was killed in school. I told it immediately to May while my tears started falling, my hands were shaking and sweating.
I'm walking crying going to school at 7:20 AM and I saw Rose Ann along the way. I noticed she was untidy as she talked to me.
"Do you want to come with me?" I asked, inviting her to have a walk with me. But she refused. "Nope! I have many things to do." Then she immediately left, running down to a small corridor of a building made of bricks, opening a secret door that reveals nothing. BI didn't bother then, so I went straight to school to see of Kharl's condition.
In school, it's crowded. I pushed all of them to see the dead body of my bestfriend. I can't ease it but Kharl's lifeless body fronted me, as tears began falling from my eyes. He was stubbed many times and he was really covered with blood. He didn't deserve that death because he was so good to me. But why would someone want to perish his life?
The police, in the crime scene had reported, Kharl was stabbed about eight times, all over his abdomen, and his lifeless body, covered with blood. I knelt down, crying and shouting. I didn't care what the people's reaction will be. I am mourning my bestfriend.
I thought I was depressed that I wanted to already die. Luckily, May was there at my side. She strengthened my weak mind and heart. Because of her, my power re-existed.
"Don't worry, I'm here for you." She said, as I looked at her, in response, with my face covered with so much tears. I hugged her while trying to know who did this. I'm out of my mind, thinking of Kharl.
May lets me feel I'm not alone.
Later on, she wondered why Rose Ann wasn't present. Perhaps May didn't have the courage to ask me because she understood my situation.
After two weeks when Kharl died, May invited me to a birthday party of her friend, Abi. I noticed Rose Ann wasn't invited that made my wonderings spark.
"Why Rose Ann wasn't invited?" May then admitted to me about her doubts to Rose Ann's real identity.
